Social Media Vertical Content Intern

The HEAT Group is seeking a Social Media Vertical Content Intern who specializes in producing engaging short-form video content for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. This role will focus on ideating, capturing, and editing platform native content for Miami HEAT, Kaseya Center, Miami HEAT Store, and other auxiliary properties. The ideal candidate for this position should have a deep understanding of social media trends (specifically TikTok), storytelling techniques, and engagement strategies with the ability to adapt those skills across all vertical video platforms. They will play a key role in enhancing the Miami HEAT’s off-court brand presence by creating compelling and shareable content that resonates with our audience. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The following are examples of the various functions required. The job requirements are not limited to the items on this list. 

• Ideate and execute vertical content strategies, specifically focusing on TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. 
•  Stay up to date on trends, viral challenges, and platform updates while incorporating them into creative storytelling for the Miami HEAT brand on our vertical form social media platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. 
• Cover Miami HEAT games and events, Kaseya Center events and activations, and Miami HEAT talent appearances in order to produce content tailored for vertical form social media platforms. 
• Monitor daily social media trends, fan engagement, and conversations to create timely and relevant content. 
• Collaborate with Content and Creative Services teams to align vertical form content within Miami HEAT brand storytelling and marketing initiatives

Education and/or Experience

• Must be enrolled at an accredited university. 
• Must have significant knowledge of vertical form social media platforms – specially TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. 
• Extensive knowledge of pop culture, current events, and social media/internet culture 
• Above average knowledge of the game of basketball, Miami HEAT team news (both current and historical) and NBA storylines 
• Strong writing, creative, and analytical skills 
• Social media creativity and swift adaptability to current events 
• Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays for event and possible Miami HEAT game coverage 
• Must be detail-oriented, well organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a timely and professional manner while taking initiative 
• Outstanding communication, teamwork, and relationship building skills 
• Photography and Adobe Photoshop skills are a plus 

This position is for the duration for the 2025-2026 Miami HEAT season.
