PRIMARY PURPOSE: Support the Engagement & Belonging team in bringing our “Guards for All” commitment to life across Greater Cleveland. This role will help translate strategy into meaningful, community-centered experiences that deepen connection between the Cleveland Guardians and the people of our city. This intern will play a key role in planning and executing community-based activations and events throughout the baseball season, helping to expand our reach, strengthen relationships, and create more inclusive pathways for fans to engage with our organization.
The expectation of this internship is 40 hours/week beginning in May 2026 through the end of baseball season.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

- Support the execution of the Engagement & Belonging team’s community engagement and social impact strategy, with a focus on building a more connected and thriving Cleveland.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and activating community-based events and partnerships across the city (e.g., Pride in the CLE, Juneteenth Freedom Festival, Cleveland Asian Festival, Puerto Rican Parade & Festival, and more)
- Serve as an on-site ambassador at community activations, helping to create welcoming, engaging, and well-organized experiences for fans and community members.
- Coordinate logistics for events including volunteer support, promotional materials, inventory tracking, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Build and maintain authentic, responsive relationships with community partners, with an emphasis on trust, reciprocity, and long-term engagement—particularly with historically underrepresented communities.
- Support the planning and execution of Community Celebration games and events (e.g., Asian & Pacific Islander Night, Pride Night, Larry Doby Day/Black Excellence, Disability Pride Night, Noche Latina).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to elevate awareness and engagement around “Guards for All” initiatives across the organization.
- Contribute to a culture of belonging by modeling inclusive behaviors and supporting team-wide efforts.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate in a relevant area of study (e.g., education, sociology, social work, community development, business, or related fields).
- Experience engaging with diverse communities and comfort interacting with individuals across identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences.
- Knowledge of Cleveland’s neighborhoods, communities, and key social dynamics impacting residents.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, event-driven environment.
- A relationship-oriented mindset with a commitment to listening, learning, and showing up authentically in community spaces.

- Availability to work weekend and evening events as necessary to perform job duties described above.

The hourly rate for this position is $16. This rate serves as a general guideline; actual compensation will be determined based on a candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
