2026-2027 Charlotte Checkers Season Operations and Sales Internship Program
The Charlotte Checkers are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates for our 2026- 27 season. Candidates should expect to build upon their work experience in the fast-paced, result-driven world of the AHL. All applications will be kept on file until the beginning of the internship program that each candidate applied for. 

Position Overview:
The internship program offers hands-on experience on our game days and in the front office. Interns will learn various skills while working closely with all members of the Checkers Front Office to execute a game day.  Interns will also have the opportunity to assist on projects in the office and at community events with our sales team. 

Timeline: 
  • Internship program will run from mid-September 2026 – April 2027 (or at the completion of the playoffs)

 As an intern, your responsibilities may include the following: 
  • Attend all 36 home games throughout the season. 
·       Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of all game-day operations. 
·       Assist in the planning and execution of theme nights, promotions, giveaways, intermission entertainment, postgame activities, and fan engagement initiatives. 
·       Coordinate on-ice presentations, including anthem singers, color guards, ceremonial puck drops, and other game-day entertainment. 
·       Support Game Presentation staff and assist with production needs during games. 
·       Manage in-game activations, including Chuck-A-Puck, DASH auction tables, merchandise sales, and inventory. 
·       Provide exceptional customer service by assisting fans, supporting premium hospitality areas, and helping create a positive game-day experience. 
·       Assist with Season Ticket Member events, community appearances, promotional events, youth hockey initiatives, and mascot appearances when needed. 
·       Attend weekly office hours to gain experience in Ticket Sales, Marketing, Community Relations, Business Administration, and Event Operations. 
·       Assist with ticket sales support, administrative projects, and other departmental initiatives. 
·       Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

   Internship Requirements:
  • Working towards a four-year college degree or graduate degree or recent graduate in Marketing, Business Administration, or Sports Management
  • Housing and transportation in the Charlotte Area
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
  • Strong professional attitude
  • Experience in the sports industry preferred.
  • Available to work every home game. 

 Compensation:
This is a non-paid internship. If an intern needs school credit, they can receive hours.
