Brooks Internship Program: Brooks Running hosts summer internships at our Seattle HQ offices to provide hands-on, meaningful work experience to further enhance your education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real work, and projects while working side by side with Brooks employees and leadership. If chosen for this role, you will join a cohort of interns at Brooks and embark on a summer of learning, professional development, and exposure to the Brooks brand and culture.   

Details: Duration: 3 months Dates: Start dates will align for both quarter and semester students. May/June - August/September 2026Location: Seattle, HQ Schedule: 40 hours / week 

This Opportunity: The AI and Data Team is seeking a full-time undergraduate intern to work at our Seattle HQ offices. This position will work closely with the AI and Data team, which is responsible for spearheading the development and management of applications for data and AI work at Brooks. The team also works closely with a multitude of stakeholders within the organization, advancing initiatives in a safe and responsible manner. Key stakeholders include Supply Chain, Run Research lab, Product Innovation, Marketing, and Sales teams.  Through this opportunity you will help solve real customer problems through data engineering, cloud technologies and AI to contribute to the strategic goals of Brooks. You will gain exposure to various functions within Brooks by interacting with experienced cross disciplinary team members. You will shadow and work under the mentorship of the Senior Director of AI, Data and Innovation completing work with the goal of solving business opportunities through a systematic process of product development life cycle for data and AI. 

Your Impact (Responsibilities):

  • Collaborate with business teams to identify strategic opportunities for Data and AI product applications that support Brooks' growth. 
  • Follow the AI products development lifecycle to scope and define the goals of the opportunity, frame the approach, identify user personas, define product and system requirements, build a prototype and validate the proposed solution   
  • Perform research on the project assigned and present findings to the senior members of the team  
  • Learn and utilize Snowflake (i.e. cloud data warehouse), AWS and coding tools like Python and basic statistics  
  • Leverage and contribute to the development of process, product and workflow documentation.   
  • Participate in internal business partners and stakeholders’ conversations and confirm that the solution development confirms the safe and responsible usage of data and AI at Brooks  
  • Undertake process mapping, data analysis and write clean and simple code to undertake basic data analysis that covers data science best practices and design patterns  
  • Demonstrate a continuous sense of curiosity to learn and share opinions about business opportunities  
  • Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and job assignments. 
  • Develop data foundation, analytical, business thinking, AI foundational, cross collaboration, and presentation skills needed for career in AI and Data products management. 
  • Flex your fundamental data science, programming, SQL, BI tools, metrics, storytelling and business understanding while also optimizing, improving, and driving quality to solve a problem or improve an existing process. 

Project:

  • As a part of your experience as an intern at Brooks, you will have the opportunity to complete a project under the support and supervision of your mentor/manager. Details of your project will be finalized once you arrive at Brooks based on your interests, and the needs of the business. You will present your work and findings to leadership at Brooks, to hone-in-on your research, analysis, and recommendations, and to refine your presentations skills. 

 A high-level project outline for this internship opportunity is as follows: 

  • As a part of your experience as an intern at Brooks, you will have the opportunity to complete a project under the support and supervision of your mentor/manager. Details of your project will be finalized once you arrive at Brooks based on your interests, and the needs of the business. You will present your work and findings to leadership at Brooks, to hone-in-on your research, analysis, and recommendations, and to refine your presentations skills. 

 

  • As part of the internship program, you will work on a wide range of initiatives within Brooks.  Under the guidance of the mentor/advisor you will work on high-impact operational problems and analyze available data to understand root causes. Various functional units include Supply Chain (e.g., forecasting variability, inventory visibility, or production bottlenecks), Run Research lab (e.g., data can enhance athlete insights, test efficiency, or research workflows) or the Sales/Marketing teams (e.g., understanding customer demand, territory performance, or order-book trends).  You will gather requirements from business stakeholders and translate those needs into clear product and data specifications. The project will culminate in designing and demonstrating a lightweight analytics or AI-enabled prototype with the potential to scale the solution across Brooks.  

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Informatics, Innovation or a related field. Individuals entering the Junior/Senior year of their program are encouraged to apply 
  • Ability to commit to the intern position for three months onsite in Seattle, WA, up to 40 hours a week  
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating effective listening through concise, clear verbal and written communication. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one general purpose programming language such as Python, Java, C++ 
  • Demonstrated experience or course work in one or more of the following:
  • Statistics and Algebra  
  • Discrete Math  
  • Data science  
  • Basic algorithm development  
  • Prompt writing and LLMs 
  • Database systems (SQL) 
  • Debugging and troubleshooting systems  
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products 
  • Must be able to collaborate in a team-oriented environment
