Numbers tell stories... and in Thrillville, every stat matters!

As an Analytics & Scouting Intern with the Thrillville Thrillbillies, you'll turn data into decisions that impact what happens on the field, in the clubhouse, and across the fan experience. This isn't just about keeping score, it's about understanding why things happen, spotting trends before anyone else, and helping our coaches and front office make informed calls that shape the season.

We're hiring multiple analytics interns this season. You'll work as part of a two-person analytics team, rotating between two tracks so you get hands-on experience across everything we do — from official scoring to operating our TrackMan system during games.

You'll work closely with Thrillbillies coaches, front office staff, and league personnel to manage in-game scoring, analyze performance metrics, maintain player and team data, and keep the record books up-to-date. If you've got a sharp eye for detail, a love for baseball, and a passion for turning spreadsheets into stories, this is your field of dreams.

What You'll Do

Track A — Game Operations & Baseball Analytics
• Serve as the Official Scorer for Thrillville Thrillbillies home games.
• Prepare daily roster and lineup sheets for fans, coaches, and staff.
• Compile statistical and scouting reports for Thrillbillies coaches and front office use.
• Manage and update team and league-wide data sheets using Microsoft Excel and other analytics tools.
• Keep the Thrillbillies Record Book current throughout the season.
• Assist in maintaining and updating the official media guide and player bios.
• Ensure game-day data accuracy and verification.

Track B — Performance Technology & Advanced Data (TrackMan)
• Operate the TrackMan system during games.
• Monitor pitch, batted-ball, and player tracking data in real time.
• Validate and correct in-game data entries.
• Export and organize TrackMan reports for coaches and staff.
• Utilize data software such as TrackMan and Tableau for performance analysis.
• Collaborate with staff on advanced analytics projects to identify trends and insights.
• Assist coaches with performance-related data needs.

Our analytics interns work closely together — collaborating before, during, and after games and rotating responsibilities so everyone builds experience across both tracks.

What You'll Need
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of baseball rules, scoring, and terminology.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data visualization).
• Experience with data software such as TrackMan, Tableau, or similar programs.
• Familiarity with coding languages (Python, R, SQL, or similar) is a major plus, but not required.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to multitask during live games.
• Strong communication and organization skills.
• A team-first mindset — you'll collaborate daily as part of a two-person analytics team.
• A passion for data-driven storytelling and the game of baseball.

The Details
• Stipend: $750/month
• Schedule: All Thrillbillies home games and major team events; occasional remote work for report compilation and updates.
• Location: Mtn Dew Park — Marion, Illinois
• Days Off: Scheduled throughout the season to maintain balance.
• Multiple positions available.

This internship is perfect for students interested in sports analytics, data science, or baseball operations. You'll gain valuable experience in data management, performance tracking, and real-time analytics — including hands-on work with professional-grade TrackMan technology — all while contributing directly to one of the most exciting organizations in summer collegiate baseball.

Because in Thrillville, the numbers don't just tell the story, they make it.
