Palm Beach Atlantic University is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Sunshine State Conference. Located in downtown West Palm Beach, Florida the main PBA campus is located along the intercostal waterway and just 1.5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. PBA's athletic department is committed to academic and athletic success, spiritual growth and serving others on and off the field. Participation in intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the overall educational experience. The athletic department endeavors to maintain a high-quality, competitive athletics program consistent with our mission and traditions.
This 10-month position begins August 1, 2026 through May 31, 2028. Once accepted into a PBA graduate study program, the compensation will include a stipend of $13,000 per year along with a full tuition reimbursement for 18 graduate level credit hours per academic year. Graduate assistants are expected to remain in good academic standing within their program to maintain the financial package described above. We currently have one opening for this position and will be looking to hire by August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary contact for select sports
Write press releases/game recaps, update the athletics website, create content for social media, update statistics and report to conference and national offices, archive and update team history.
Assist in the design and production of gameday graphics
Shoot or edit highlight videos as needed
Fill other gameday roles as needed (public address announcing, shot clock, game clock, scorebook, commentary, directing)
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, sports management or related field
Prior experience in athletic communications in a collegiate or professional setting
Strong communication, organization, writing, and ability to work in a professional environment
Experience using computer software: Adobe Creative Suite (or similar)
Experience using statistical software such as NCAA Live Stats/Genius (preferred), Stat Crew and/or Presto
Experience and knowledge engaging people on social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter)
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience covering intercollegiate athletic programs
Experience inputting stats in a variety of sports
Advanced video editing and creative design skills
Knowledge of website editing and design (prior SIDEARM experience preferred)
Prior photography/videography experience
