Georgian Court University is an NCAA Division II institution, located in Lakewood, New Jersey, which is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). GCU sponsors 16 varsity sports, 9 female sports; acrobatics & tumbling, soccer, volleyball, basketball, lacrosse, softball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field, and 7 male sports; soccer, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field.

The communications and operations graduate assistant is a one-year position with the opportunity for the renewal of a second year. Appointment is contingent on candidate being accepted to a GCU Graduate School program of the applicant’s choosing. All graduate assistantships are renewable for two consecutive years, contingent upon successful completion of GA duties and responsibilities, including maintaining a minimum of six graduate credits each semester of assistantship and maintaining at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work a total of 20 hours per week. This may include weeknights and weekends.
  • Assist with the creation of digital media such as social media graphics pertaining to: game recaps, information about upcoming events, and GCU marketing content.
  • Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of equipment for game day management.
  • Assist with the management of student workers pertaining to; tracking time worked, overseeing jobs and reporting timesheets.
  • Assist with in-game statistics and game operations for all sports.
  • Assist with the oversight of student-athletes and teams in connection to NCAA compliance.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the athletic department’s website.
  • Assist with the operation of conference championships held at GCU

Minimum / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferred majors include Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, English, Sports Management, Business Management or a related field of study)
  • Must be accepted into a Georgian Court University Master’s program
  • Familiarity with athletics. 
  • Enthusiastic and dependable
  • Can take direction and follow through on tasks
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Night and weekend work

Preference will be given to applicants who possess some experience with Adobe Creative Suite, NCAA Genius stat packages and working knowledge of social media platforms

Tuition remission for up to 9 credits per semester
