Position Overview

The Basketball Programs Intern will support the delivery of PYB’s LULU Summer Camp, working closely with staff and coaches to implement both on-court basketball instruction and off-court youth development programming.

This role provides hands-on experience in sports-based youth development and program operations.

Key Responsibilities

Program Development & Delivery

  • Assist in the development, planning, and execution of LULU Summer Camp programming, including both on-court basketball skill development and off-court educational and enrichment activities
  • Support the facilitation of engaging, structured experiences for campers in grades 3–9

Program Operations & Logistics

  • Provide operational support at the Esperanza Health Center, including participant sign-in and registration, family check-in, and daily program setup and transitions
  • Assist with distributing and collecting surveys and supporting overall program flow to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience

Youth Engagement & Community Building

  • Engage with participants and families to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive camp environment
  • Build relationships with youth to enhance participation, confidence, and overall experience

Program Content & Outreach

  • Assist in the creation of program materials and outreach content that support LULU programming and community engagement
  • Contribute to communication efforts that highlight program activities and impact

Research, Tracking & Evaluation

  • Research best practices in youth sports programming and youth development to inform camp activities and engagement strategies
  • Track camper participation, goals, and progress in collaboration with program staff

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student in Sport Business, Sports Management, Education, or a related field (preferred)
  • Interest in youth sports, youth development, and community-based programming
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable engaging with youth and supporting both on-court and off-court programming
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, coaches, and program partners
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to take initiative and problem-solve
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
