Internship Overview: The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are offering an opportunity for current college students to gain real-world box office, ticket sales, and fan service experience while playing a key role in delivering one of the best fan experiences in collegiate summer baseball. This internship is designed for students interested in sports sales, customer experience, and live event operations who want hands-on responsibility and exposure to the business side of baseball.
About the Battle Creek Battle Jacks: The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are a proud member of the Northwoods League, the premier collegiate summer baseball league in North America. Based in Battle Creek, Michigan, the Battle Jacks operate like a professional minor league organization while maintaining a culture centered on teamwork, accountability, creativity, and community connection.
Our interns are essential members of our summer family. Box Office interns serve as the front line of the fan experience, helping fans navigate ticket options, resolving issues on game days, and building lasting relationships with our community at MCCU Field.
The Northwoods League features elite college players from across North America and operates at a professional level, using wooden bats, minor league–spec baseballs, overnight travel, and nightly games in front of thousands of fans.
Internship Dates
- Start Date: On or around mid-May 2026
- End Date: On or around mid-August 2026
Academic Qualifications
- Declared major or minor in Sport Management, Professional Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field
- Other majors will be considered
Description of Responsibilities
Box Office & Ticket Sales
- Complete comprehensive box office training, including ticketing system management, sales scripts, and customer service best practices
- Sell tickets in person and by phone, including walk-up sales, group inquiries, and will call distribution
- Develop a working knowledge of all ticket products, seating options, and stadium layouts
- Handle customer service inquiries and resolve ticketing issues in a professional and timely manner
- Collect and assist with organizing fan and ticketing data
Game Day Operations & Fan Experience
- Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable point of contact for fans on game days
- Build strong customer relationships by delivering friendly, solution-oriented service
- Support game-day operations at the box office and front gates
Community & Events
- Staff off-site events, promotions, and community appearances as needed
- Represent the Battle Jacks brand in a positive, professional manner
Additional Duties
- Assist other departments as needed to support overall game-day success
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Availability to work all Battle Jacks home games, including nights and weekends
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Previous experience in sales or customer service is a plus but not required
- Cash handling experience preferred
- Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Sheets preferred
- Ability to work extended hours on game days
Additional Tasks May Include
- Game day setup and breakdown
- Fan interaction and engagement throughout the ballpark
- Assisting with promotions and in-game entertainment
- Supporting special events and community activations
- Merchandise support and promotional content participation
- General stadium support as needed
Compensation: This internship is structured as an educational and professional development experience. There is no hourly wage associated with the position. The intern understands that compensation is provided in the form of hands-on experience, training, and exposure to the operations of a collegiate summer baseball organization.
Housing & Living Expenses: Housing is not provided, and interns are responsible for arranging their own summer living accommodations. There are a variety of housing options available in and around Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and greater Calhoun County during the summer. The organization will provide a monthly stipend of up to $600 (based on skills and experience) to help offset living expenses such as food, gas, and housing.
College Credit: College credit toward a major, minor, or general elective may be available, subject to the requirements of the intern’s academic institution.
