Internship Program Overview:
The San Francisco 49ers offer full-time, paid internships for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in professional sports while exploring careers within the National Football League. Our program is designed to allows participants to contribute directly to the organization’s success while applying the knowledge learned in the classroom.
Interns are embedded within a specific department while also having opportunities to explore the broader organization through group networking events, training sessions, and one-on-one meetings with leaders across the club. Each intern is supported by a mentor and team and contributes to a project that builds skills and professional confidence.

General Internship details and expectations:
- Our interns are paid $19.00 per hour and are expected to work 30-40 hours or more per week during the internship period.
- Interns are expected to commit to the full term of the internship and be mostly onsite (no remote internships are available), which runs from mid-July through the end of February.
- Interns are expected to work flexible hours that include nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Interns to provide their own housing and transportation

Position Overview:
The five-time Super Bowl Champion San Francisco 49ers are seeking a Corporate Communications
Intern to assist the Communications Department in the development and execution of communications initiatives for the team and Levi’s Stadium. The ideal candidate is an outgoing and innovative communications professional, with experience in project management and proactive media pitching. A general understanding of the live sports and entertainment industry is beneficial.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Supports media monitoring and assists internal reporting for corporate communications initiatives as directed.
- Assists with researching, updating and maintaining local and national media lists for key media contacts in core functional competencies: technology, sustainability, education, community relations, marketing, corporate partnerships, business analytics, and sports business.
- Assists in the development and execution of strategic communications planning for all 49ers and stadium-related story ideas to media, including pitching related to fan engagement activities, partnership activations, 49ers Foundation, and 49ers Enterprises, along with other assigned media initiatives and press functions.
- Assists in preparing and editing internal communications materials used to brief employees.
- Drafts feature articles for 49ers publications and 49ers.com as well as press releases on topics related to core competencies.
- Supports publicity efforts for non-NFL events staged at Levi’s Stadium, including professional and international soccer, concerts etc.
- Works closely with the marketing and digital media departments to execute strategic communications plans and promote brand development.
- Manages annual calendar of industry conferences, speaking opportunities, and industry awards in adherence with team protocols for employee participation.
- Staffs events at team HQ/Levi’s Stadium and off-site as directed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Provides media relations support for 49ers Football Communications team for all home game and as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supporting multiple clients – specifically consumer brands, education, corporate social responsibility initiatives or cause-based marketing – for a public relations agency is desired.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
- Proficient in social media applications desired.
