Austin FC joined Major League Soccer (MLS) as the League’s 27th club in January 2019. Austin FC officially began competing in MLS in April 2021, and in the 2025 season qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs while also reaching and hosting the final of the U.S. Open Cup. Austin FC plays its home matches at Q2 Stadium, a 100% privately financed, state-of-the-art stadium which earned certification as a zero-waste venue in 2024. Austin FC sold out all 88 MLS home matches it played at Q2 Stadium during its first five seasons in the league, including three home MLS Cup Playoff matches.
Austin FC is actively searching for an intern to join the Communications Department. In this internship, you will gain valuable experience in handling gameday communication responsibilities and providing support for other editorial content.  You will also have the opportunity to assist during weekly broadcast calls and gain insight into planning ahead of matches. This an opportunity to contribute to Austin FC’s Communications Department as well as a great way to advance your career. 
This position will be based in Austin, TX and the role will be in-person based out of Austin FC’s business office. 

Are You Someone That:
  • Can communicate verbally with a wide range of people? 
  • Has strong time management and an eye for attention to detail?
  • Strong interest in public relations in a major league environment?
  • Is agile and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously?
You Will:
  • Support the Austin FC Communications Department with gameday responsibilities for both the first and second teams; and
  • Support gameday communications responsibilities for all Austin FC II matches: in-person for all home matches at Parmer Field at St. David’s Performance Center, and digitally for all away matches; and
  • Learn to write match reports, media advisories, and other editorial content for Austin FC II; and
  • Learn to draft press releases, match notes, and other media materials for Austin FC II; and 
  • Attend weekly broadcast call with Austin FC II Head Coach and field content/interview requests for the coach and players; and 
  • Attend in-person meetings at the Austin FC business office or St. David’s Performance Center to gain overall knowledge of department and benefit from cross departmental collaboration; and
  • Provide support on special projects. 
You Have:
  • Time management skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office and possess excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and an ability to stay organized
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new programs and systems
  • English and/or Spanish language proficiency is essential and Spanish/English bilingual skills are a plus. Additional languages – even better
