We are seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern to join our IT organization. This internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate students or recent graduates currently pursuing or holding a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, comfortable working with clients and technology, and interested in gaining hands-on experience in security operations, risk management, and IT processes.

 

As part of the IT team, the Cybersecurity Intern will contribute to security initiatives while also supporting general IT responsibilities as needed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Security Operations & Monitoring

  • Assist in implementing, managing, and monitoring security tools and platforms.
  • Investigate potential security threats and suspicious activity.
  • Support incident review, documentation, and response activities.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Conduct account reviews, access audits, and user permission assessments.
  • Participate in Information Security training
  • Participate in policy and procedure reviews to help ensure compliance with internal standards.

Tools & Technology Evaluation

  • Research and evaluate new cybersecurity or IT tools to support organizational needs.
  • Support proof-of-concept testing and provide feedback to the security team.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Help create and maintain documentation, including incident reports, audit findings, configuration notes, and process guides.

Special Projects

  • Contribute to IT or security-related projects based on organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to support secure system administration and infrastructure tasks.

 

This summer internship will pay $15 per hour; flexible scheduling may be available.

 

Qualifications:

  • Current or recent enrollment in a degree program in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in cybersecurity and information technology.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, techniques, and technologies.

Preferred

  • Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) or similar entry-level security certification.
  • Familiarity with security tools (e.g., SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners) or basic scripting.
  • Understanding of fundamental security principles, threats, and best practices.
