Position Overview
The Development Operations Intern will support PYB’s fundraising, communications, and donor engagement efforts. This role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development operations, providing exposure to donor relations, event planning, internal communications, and fundraising strategy.
The intern will work across development, marketing, and operations teams to help strengthen systems that support donor engagement and organizational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Donor Communications & Stewardship
- Draft and prepare donor-facing communications, including thank-you letters, updates, and outreach materials
- Support tracking and documentation of donor engagement activities
- Assist with stewardship efforts, including mailings and recognition initiatives
Events & Fundraising
- Support planning and execution of fundraising events and donor experiences
- Assist with logistics, vendor coordination, and event preparation
- Help manage materials, supplies, and event-related communications
Research & Fund Development
- Conduct research on prospective donors, funders, and grant opportunities
- Assist with drafting low-stakes grant proposals and donor briefs
- Compile research summaries to support fundraising strategy
Internal Communications & Operations
- Draft internal newsletters (e.g., “Week Ahead”) and organizational updates
- Maintain Google Drive systems, documentation, and shared resources
- Support calendar management across platforms (Google Calendar, RecDesk)
Volunteer & Administrative Support
- Assist with volunteer coordination and communications
- Support inventory tracking and materials management
- Provide meeting support, including note-taking and documentation
Capstone Project
The intern will complete a project such as:
- Developing a donor engagement or communication strategy
- Creating a funder research portfolio
- Designing a system to improve internal communications or event coordination
Qualifications
- Interest in nonprofit development, communications, marketing, or business
- Strong writing and communication skills
- High attention to detail and organizational ability
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Familiarity with Google Workspace; Canva experience preferred
