Equipment Assistant Internship
Job Description:
This participant will work under the direction of the Head Equipment Manager and Assistant Equipment Manager and will be introduced to the day-to-day tasks of a professional Hockey Equipment Manager.
Objective/Goal:
This intern will gain various skills through hands-on experience and will gain an understanding of how the day-to-day responsibilities of an Equipment Manager are executed.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in repairing and laundering uniforms and protective gear.
- Prepare and organize the locker room before and after practice and games.
- Set up benches, water bottles, coaches’ equipment, etc. for practice and games.
- Assist with both packing and unloading before and after road trips.
- Inventory equipment, supplies, uniforms while reporting shortages or equipment damage.
- Assist with the maintenance of proper sanitation of player equipment.
- Assist visiting teams with locker room setup and game-day needs when assigned.
- Ensure compliance with league equipment standards and safety regulations.
- Assist with post-game equipment breakdown, laundry, and locker room cleanup.
- Support athletic trainers and hockey operations staff as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Equipment Manager or Hockey Operations staff.
Qualifications:
- Preferred to be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level student pursuing a degree in sport management, marketing, business or related field.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extensive travel schedules when required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Time:
- Duration of the 2026-27 Syracuse Crunch Season
- All Syracuse Crunch home games
- Weekdays post practice
- Additionally, as needed
Compensation:
This is a non-paid internship. When negotiated with each individual college, credit will be granted. There is the opportunity to earn tips from visiting teams in accordance with the 2026-27 AHL Equipment Fees ($100-$300 per weekend).
