Title: Equipment Intern

Department: Equipment (Basketball Operations)

Reports to: Head Equipment Manager

Departmental Goal: Ensure equipment needs are met from a player, team, and league perspective to support success on the court and as a brand.

Objective: Effectively assist with management of inventory to ensure equipment needs for players and staff are met in a responsive and responsible manner.

Position Summary: The Equipment Intern is responsible for assisting with the equipment needs of the Los Angeles Lakers at the practice facility and home arena. This position requires a high level of organization and a service attitude.

Key metrics used to evaluate performance: 

  • Organization of inventory and service to players.
  • Keep all items stocked, organized, and accessible.
  • Feedback from head equipment manager, team attendants, training staff, and management.

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities**): 

  • Provide support to the head equipment manager in providing equipment for the Los Angeles Lakers players, coaches, and relevant support staff to include organizing inventory and supplies, outfitting players and staff, and washing game and practice gear.
  • Set up equipment needs for games and practices.
  • Assist with overseeing the transportation of equipment, such as unloading the equipment truck and managing luggage.
  • Ensure the availability of equipment for visiting teams.
  • Provide equipment for team business needs, such as sponsorship film shoots and season ticketholder events.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Desire to work in sports business.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. 

Previous Experience:

  • 1 year in a customer facing role.
  • 1 year experience working with a sports team (preferred).

**Responsibilities subject to change based on organizational needs and direction from management.

Education (Required/ Preferred): Current undergraduate or recent college graduate.

Location: El Segundo, CA and Crypto.com arena for home games.

Hours: 20-30 hours per week including additional evening and weekend hours.

The pay for this role is $18.00/hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications.
