This position will start on 8/3/26 and run through 6/25/27.  

A quick summary about the role:

Events and Engagement Graduate Associate will focus on providing support to the Events and Engagement department in planning and executing all aspects of special events and community events for the organization.

What the Graduate Associate will be responsible for:

  • Assist the Events and Engagement department to develop, coordinate and execute all organizational special events including site selection, food and beverage, technical requirements, invitations, talent, staffing, etc. 
  • Support department on site for every event with set up, event execution and breakdown.  
  • Assist with submitting requests for other departments as necessary, including audio visual, talent, graphic production etc. 
  • Manage all supplies for events from offsite storage, Kia storage, and vendors
  • Research site selection and vendors as necessary. 
  • Coordinate and maintain invite lists for organizational events. 
  • Provide direction to volunteers and event staff as needed. 
  • Track RSVPs for events as necessary and continuously communicate with corresponding departments. 
  • Assist with development and execution of event themes and concepts
  • Assist with researching and ordering event supplies and décor
  • Support Season Launch and Playoff initiatives with inventory and distribution of materials, and promoting the upcoming season at select community events
  • Assist in community event prep – gathering and loading supplies, talent requests, signage requests
  • Support Grassroots when needed by assisting onsite at community events with setup, product giveaway, and representing the Magic in our community
  • Ability to drive Magic vehicles and manage vehicle maintenance
  • Research community events and programs
  • Manage all department requests as it relates to giveaways
  • Assist the Events and Engagement department with community events and initiatives.
  • Assist the Events and Engagement department with storage and inventory management.
  • Maintain a professional level of communication with all internal and external stakeholders. 
  • All other duties as assigned.

What the Graduate Associate needs to have:

  •  Post Grad (recent college graduates within 24 months of graduation) or graduate-level college students required.
  • Event planning experience preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and support multiple positions.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others for whom you have no direct supervisory authority.
  • Strong teamwork and team synergy skills required.
  • Excellent ability to establish rapport with others and ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to be creative.
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours with a flexible schedule based on the changing priorities of the department.

Relocation Information:

  • Relocation and housing expenses are the responsibility of the Graduate Associate (Please note that while we have a hybrid work model, this does require you to live and work out of the Orlando, Florida area.)
  • Reliable transportation is also needed

Working Hours:

  • Office Hours - M-F, 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
  • Based on role determines in office and remote working by the manager
  • Most Associates work all game nights (44 home games + playoffs and finals) including weekends and holidays
