Brooks Internship Program:
Brooks Running hosts summer internships at our Seattle HQ offices to provide hands-on, meaningful work experience to further enhance your education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real work, and projects while working side by side with Brooks employees and leadership. If chosen for this role, you will join a cohort of interns at Brooks and embark on a summer of learning, professional development, and exposure to the Brooks brand and culture.

Duration: 3 months Dates: Start dates will align for both quarter and semester students. May/June - August/September 2026
Location: Seattle, HQ Schedule: 40 hours / week


This Opportunity:
Our Footwear Team is a seeking a Footwear Materials intern to work at our Seattle, HQ offices.   The Brooks Footwear team spans multiple time zones, countries, skill sets and disciplines. Our global crew seeks a Material Development Intern to support our Brooks Footwear Materials Toolbox. Through this opportunity you will gain exposure to the Footwear creation process by supporting our Materials Development team.  

Your Impact (Responsibilities):

  • Receive mentorship from and work under the direction of a senior contributor on the Footwear Materials Team to understand their roles and impact to the broader department.
  • Experience on-the-job training through real work projects, showcasing how your academic experience translates to the professional environment.
  • Learn directly from experienced co-workers, managers and leaders with specialized experience and technical knowledge.
  • Gain experience in product development cycle by participating in ideation sessions some of which include: material concepting, material trouble-shooting, and process innovations.
  • Assist the materials development team in building seasonal materials – curating materials and collaborating with suppliers to support developments.
  • Support the curation, representation & display of our materials within our library.
  • Build and present a specific toolbox of Brooks’ choice, which will contribute to the Material Library
  • Assist with the materials data entry in FLEX, our product system.
  • Support the ongoing maintenance of the Brooks materials library, ensuring the latest materials are organized and presented with accurate information.
  • Coordinate HQ shipments (incoming and outgoing) on behalf of the department and ensure new catalogues are classified correctly in physical library.
  • Arrange and coordinate team meetings, venues, vendor management, room setup including audio/visual.
  • Assist with the creation of visual materials tools/aids.
  • Represent a culture of exceptional service, trust and executional excellence.

Project:

  • As a part of your experience as an intern at Brooks, you will have the opportunity to complete a project under the support and supervision of your mentor and manager. Details of your project will be finalized once you arrive at Brooks based on your interests, and the needs of the business. You will present your work and findings to leadership at Brooks, to hone in on your research, analysis and recommendations, and to refine your presentation skills.


A high-level project outline for this internship opportunity is as follows:

  • Support the proliferation of our footwear material library—both physical and digital—across our global locations, including China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. You will play a critical role in ensuring that these resources are accessible and optimized for use in these key manufacturing regions.
  • By the end of the internship, you will have contributed to a more unified and accessible material library that supports our global manufacturing operations. This will facilitate better material selection, enhance product quality, and streamline communication across our global teams.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Textiles, Design, or related field etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willing to commit to the intern position for three months onsite in Seattle, WA
  • Willingness to learn and gain hands-on experience
  • Able to commit to up to 40 hours a week to be physically present at HQ
  •  Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a service orientation mentality
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills with a proven ability to get things done.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Sharepoint, office technology and equipment
  • Willingness to dig into any project and to be pro-active in learning.
