Internship Overview: The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are offering an opportunity for current college students to gain real-world stadium operations and food & beverage management experience while playing a leadership role in delivering one of the best fan experiences in collegiate summer baseball. This internship is designed for students who want hands-on responsibility, operational ownership, and a fast-paced introduction to the sports and live events industry.

About the Battle Creek Battle Jacks: The Battle Creek Battle Jacks are a proud member of the Northwoods League, the premier collegiate summer baseball league in North America. Based in Battle Creek, Michigan, the Battle Jacks operate like a professional minor league organization while maintaining a culture centered on teamwork, accountability, creativity, and community connection.
Our interns are essential members of our summer family. Stadium Operations interns are trusted with leadership responsibilities across concessions, hospitality, and ballpark operations and play a direct role in creating a clean, safe, and memorable environment for fans, players, staff, and partners at MCCU Field.
The Northwoods League features elite college players from across North America and operates at a professional level, using wooden bats, minor league–spec baseballs, overnight travel, and nightly games in front of thousands of fans.

Internship Dates
  • Start Date: On or around mid-May 2026
  • End Date: On or around mid-August 2026
Academic Qualifications
  • Declared major or minor in Sport Management, General Management, Hospitality, Food Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Other majors will be considered
Description of Responsibilities: Each Stadium Operations Intern will take ownership of assigned operational areas within the ballpark, including concessions and hospitality locations.

Stadium & Concessions Operations
  • Oversee assigned concessions and hospitality locations on game days
  • Assist with game-day staff and concession employee supervision
  • Support food and beverage inventory tracking, ordering, and restocking
  • Assist with scheduling support and time tracking for concessions staff
  • Monitor food quality control and presentation standards
  • Assist with food and beverage waste management and tracking
Ballpark Operations & Facility Oversight
  • Support ballpark cleanliness, setup, and breakdown before and after games
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and quality control of seating areas, walkways, and public spaces
  • Supervise stadium cleanliness and upkeep throughout events
Game Day & Event Support
  • Assist with game-day setup including signage, banners, equipment, and hospitality areas
  • Support special events, community activations, and non-game-day events as needed
  • Provide fan-facing support and contribute to a positive guest experience
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Availability to work all Battle Jacks home games, including nights and weekends
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, team-first attitude
  • Ability to lead, communicate clearly, and take initiative
  • Previous experience in ballpark operations, food & beverage, or events is a plus but not required
  • Customer service and cash handling experience preferred
  • Ability to multitask and manage responsibility in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable performing physical tasks and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Sheets preferred
  • Skills with basic tools or maintenance tasks are a plus

  • Fan interaction and engagement
  • Delivery receiving and inventory organization
  • Power washing and stadium recovery tasks
  • Food prep and player meal support
  • Special events and community activations
  • Merchandising support and promotional content participation
No Compensation: This internship is structured as an educational and professional development experience. There is no hourly wage associated with the position. The intern understands that compensation is provided in the form of hands-on experience, training, and exposure to the operations of a collegiate summer baseball organization.
Housing & Living Expenses: Housing is not provided, and interns are responsible for arranging their own summer living accommodations. There are a variety of housing options available in and around Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, and greater Calhoun County during the summer. The organization will provide a monthly stipend of up to $600 (based on skills and experience) to help offset living expenses such as food, gas, and housing.
