The Knoxville Ice Bears are seeking passionate, hard-working individuals with a desire to learn about the operational and promotional aspects of sporting events. Game day interns will assist the Game Operations Coordinator with planning and executing all aspects of Ice Bears home games. Qualified candidates must be able to positively and professionally interact with Ice Bears staff, fans, and Coliseum staff. We are looking for highly motivated self-starters who aspire to careers in professional sports and related industries.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing all game day elements and some non-game day, off-site promotions
- Oversee the designated kids’ activity zones to maintain high levels of organization and safety
- Operate the fan assistance booth by answering questions, managing raffles, and coordinating with the office staff
- Responsible for giveaways and prizes for fans involved in in-game promotions and intermission events
- Set up/break down lobby tables, merchandise stands, and other game day promotional elements
- Assist in the organization and activation of pregame or postgame promotions and partnership events
- Fulfill office duties and miscellaneous projects assigned by full-time staff members
Requirements and Qualifications
- College undergraduate, grad student, or high school senior on track to earn a degree
- Interns can receive college credit for their internship course requirements
- Must be willing to work long and flexible hours, especially nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to work the majority of the 30 regular-season home games plus playoffs
- Previous sports experience preferred but not required
- Must be punctual, responsible, willing to work with a team, and assist staff members of all departments
- Ability to lift and transport a minimum of 25 lbs and stand or walk for long periods of time
Advancement in Sports through the Ice Bears Organization
- This program will have two managers selected from the intern pool, who will take on increased responsibilities.
- After completing your first semester of work, qualified interns can continue their internships in various part-time or full-time roles, including ticket sales, corporate sales, game day production, or merchandise.
- This program has successfully placed many interns in the NHL, AHL, NFL, and other professional sports leagues after graduation.
