The Athletics Department at Auburn University at Montgomery is accepting applications for an Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant.

This position requires office hours, nights and weekends dependent on home competition and special event schedules.

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the mission of Auburn University at Montgomery, the Athletic Department, and the Athletic Communications office in the External Operations unit. You are required to assist and complete all assignments set forth by the Director of Athletic Communications.
The Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant supports the promotion, coverage, and storytelling efforts of AUM Athletics while assisting with live event production and digital content creation.

Below is a list of essential functions and tasks performed by the position:

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Athletic Communications Office with coverage of AUM Athletics as a whole and assigned sports.
  • Assist with athletic communications operations and strategies, including game coverage, statistics, record books, feature writing, social media, photography, videography, archiving, website updates, award nominations, and gameday setup/breakdown.
  • Serve as a lead producer for FloSports live-stream broadcasts, including setup, operation, troubleshooting, replay, graphics, and submitting required materials to the GSC and/or FloSports.
  • Create and manage broadcast content, run-of-shows, commercial inventory, and sponsorship fulfillment elements for live-stream productions – in adherence with GSC and FloSports policies and procedures.
  • Assist with training and supervision of student workers and game-day staff involved in communications and broadcast operations.
  • Develop creative digital content for AUM Athletics' social media, website, and videoboard/scoretable, as well as print media content as assigned.
  • Support game-day operations and special event coverage as assigned.
  • Represent AUM Athletics in a professional manner and comply with all university, conference, and NCAA policies. Attend all department meetings/events and compliance education meetings, as assigned.
  • Maintain required certifications (CPR), training, and compliance documentation.

Compensation:

  • Tuition for up to 18-credit hours per academic year (fall, spring, summer), on-campus housing, and an additional fixed amount to be applied to fees, books, meals, etc.
  • Maximum of 12 in-state graduate credits for Spring 2027 + Summer 2027 for positions beginning in January.
  • GA Verification support for out-of-state graduate students covering the difference of in-state vs. out-of-state tuition and fees.
  • Possibility of student worker wages for gameday hours worked as a student worker beyond 20 hours per week required in GA role.

  • Must be accepted in AUM master’s program and demonstrate full-time enrollment for Spring 2027 not later than Friday, December 12th.
  • Position does require summer hours for courses covered in summer term.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
  • Experience in the sports industry as a volunteer, intern, part-time, and/or student-worker role. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a collegiate athletics communications office as a volunteer, intern, part-time and/or student-worker role. 
  • Experience with producing live stream broadcasts and BlueFrame Production Truck.
  • Experience with social media and/or creative content programs such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Gipper.
