Rockford University is seeking a motivated and passionate Graduate Assistant for Women’s Basketball to begin August 3rd, 2026. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on collegiate coaching experience while pursuing a graduate degree. The GA will play a vital role in supporting all aspects of the program.
The Graduate Assistant will assist with recruiting efforts, including phone calls, high school visits, and coordinating campus visits, while also supporting practice planning, setup, and on-court coaching. This role includes participation in game preparation and coaching during competitions, as well as conducting film breakdown of practices and games. The GA will provide academic support through study tables, tutoring coordination, and grade monitoring, and will hold regular one-on-one meetings with student-athletes. Additional responsibilities include assisting with strength and conditioning supervision and promoting a positive team culture focused on the overall development and success of student-athletes.
This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends and are required to work between 30-40 hours per week. Work will take place in both office and athletic facilities, and over the road travel with significant time spent in the gym during the basketball season.
Graduate Assistant will receive room and board, a monthly stipend and up to 21 hours of tuition remission per academic year.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into a Rockford University graduate program
• Collegiate playing experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and strategy
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to take initiative and work independently
• Valid driver’s license and insurable under university standards
