The Graduate Assistant Coach reports to and is supervised by the Head Softball Coach and assists the Head Softball Coach, as directed by:

· Planning and implementing practice sessions;

· Providing input and other coaching related duties for home and away games and events;

· Recruiting qualified, prospective student-athletes as allowed by NCAA rules (NCAA Coaching Certification module must be passed);

· Analyzing video of ourselves and opponents;

· Making team travel arrangements, such as transportation, hotels, and meals;

· Planning and implementing camps and clinics in the respective sport;

· Assisting with the planning and implementation of departmental development and marketing events and activities;

· Assisting with the oversight of the student-athletes academic achievement;

· Assisting with planning and implementation of community service activities;

· Assisting with game and event scheduling with opponents; and

· Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Softball Coach and/or Athletic Director

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Montana State University Billings - visit MSUB Graduate Studies homepage to see all available programs

• Must be in good standing academically at MSUB and enroll full-time per semester as well as meet and maintain all graduate program requirements;

• Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license and be willing to operate a motor vehicle to transport teams to and from competition;

· Collegiate softball playing experience preferred - pitching experience preferred;

· Perform active coaching duties (such as demonstrating, hitting ground balls, throwing batting practice, etc.)

• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

• Ability to multi-task and work within a team environment

• Desire to work with culturally diverse populations

• Ability to work with people in fast paced and potentially hectic environment

• Must have thorough understanding of special demands of the athletic environment with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with student-athletes, coaches, athletic department staff, boosters, University administration, faculty, and surrounding community

Grad assistants are given a partial tuition waiver ($1,500 per semester), work between 15 to 20 hours a week (depending on position and department needs) during the semester and earn a $3,000 per semester stipend.

TUTITION COST: $2,095/semester, 5-6 credits per semester

$3,560/semester, 9+ credits per semester (mandatory for international students)
