Gonzaga Athletics is looking forward to finding our next Graduate Intern! This internship supports the daily operations and functions of the Academic Services programs and reports directly to the Assistant Athletic Director/Academic Services. We are looking for hardworking, passionate, amicable individuals invested in learning and preparing for roles of Academic Coordinators or Tutorial Coordinators within collegiate athletics.
The opportunity will provide the core requirements for Academic Services that cannot be learned in a classroom. After completing this internship, the intern will be able to apply for Academic Support Services positions across the country and will be well-prepared to deal with the complexities of a permanent position.

PURPOSE:
The Graduate Intern will primarily assist the Assistant Athletic Director/Academic Services with the maintenance, progress and enhancement of the Gonzaga Athletics Academic Services Program as it relates to academic advising and registration, Gonzaga Athletics Peer Tutorial Program, and continuing eligibility for the student-athletes of Gonzaga University. In addition to Academic Services, this intern will also gain experience within our Business Office, Life Skills Development area, and Ticket Office throughout the duration of the internship.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Academic Services Support – 50%
Provide individual academic advisement, mentoring, and support for assigned freshmen, transfers, and at-risk student-athletes.
Provide assistance for academic planning and major/career exploration for student-athletes.
Assist the Tutorial Coordinator with all facets of our Peer Tutorial program including but not limited to: planning and facilitating tutor trainings, pairing student-athletes with tutors, and updating spreadsheets and historical documentation.
Business Office Support – 20%
Assist in the daily operations of the Business Office, including submitting invoices for payment from a variety of vendors, and reconciling expenses to confirm they have been recorded with the correct budget coding.
Life Skills Development Support – 15%
Actively participate and assist in leading various workshops for EDPE 195 New Athlete Orientation course for freshman student-athletes each fall on assigned topics. Additional responsibilities of tracking attendance, course evaluations, and library night grading also required.
Provide oversight and support for various community outreach events.
Ticket Office Support – 15%
Assist in the daily operations of the Ticket Office, including office support and gameday ticketing operations for select events.
Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director/Academic Services.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This internship is a fully immersive experience replicating a full-time position in the field of Academic Support Services. In addition to regular office hours, this field often requires night and weekend hours where applicable to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
A monthly living stipend and graduate school tuition will be provided. The successful applicant may enroll in any graduate program offered by Gonzaga University (School of Law and M.Ed. Counseling excluded) and is subject to the entrance requirements of the university (successful applicant must be admitted into a graduate program at Gonzaga for Fall 2026). Preferred graduate programs are M.A. Organizational Leadership, M.A. Communication & Leadership, M.A. Sport & Athletic Administration and Master of Business Administration.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS:
Applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree prior to the start of the internship.
This is a two-year program starting June 16, 2026 – May 15, 2028 and is renewable for the second year by mutual agreement between both parties.
SUPERVISION:
Reports to the Assistant Athletic Director/Academic Services, with additional reporting lines to leaders in the Business Office, Life Skills Development, and the Ticket Office

INTERVIEW PROCESS:
Application materials will be accepted through Friday, March 6th, but interviews will begin as soon as Monday, February 23th.
The multi-round interview process will take place throughout the month of March. These interviews will be a combination of phone and Zoom with various members of our staff.
The successful applicant is expected to be identified by the end of March.
This in-person internship is anticipated to start Monday, June 16, 2026 (start date can have some flexibility but will need to be discussed ahead of time).
