SPOKANE, Washington, Gonzaga Athletics is looking forward to finding our next Graduate Intern! This internship supports the daily operations and functions of the Life Skills Development programs and reports directly to the Director of Life Skills Development. We are looking for hardworking, passionate, amicable individuals invested in learning and preparing for roles in Student-Athlete Development within collegiate athletics.
The opportunity will provide the core requirements for Life Skills Development that cannot be learned in a classroom. After completing this internship, the intern will be able to apply for Student-Athlete Development positions across the country and will be well-prepared to deal with the complexities of a permanent position.
A benefit of this position is that the Graduate Intern will also provide support to our Revenue Generation and Academic Support Services, allowing you to experience multiple areas within an Athletic Department and gain valuable skills related to each one.
PURPOSE:
The Graduate Intern will assist the Director of Life Skills Development with the maintenance, progress and enhancement of the Gonzaga Athletics Life Skills Program as it relates to Community Outreach, Community Building Personal Development, Leadership Development and Career Development for the student-athletes of Gonzaga University. In addition to Life Skills, this intern will also gain experience within Revenue Generation Office and Academic Support Services.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Life Skills Development Support – 65%
Develop and implement comprehensive educational programming for Gonzaga student-athletes.
Assist in career development programming including workshops, resume building and editing.
Daily support given to S.A.A.C. Representatives and those participating in the Student-Athlete Leadership Institute.
Co-instruct the EDPE 195 New Athlete Orientation course for freshmen student-athletes.
Additional responsibilities of tracking attendance, course evaluations, and guest speaker feedback also required.
Coordinate community outreach and service opportunities.
Manage NCAA Compliance paperwork and record keeping for community outreach.
Manage PRIDE (The student-athlete development incentive program) scoring and record keeping
Create and maintain multimedia content for Life Skills Development website pages, S.A.A.C. social media outlets, and content for internal and external reporting.
Assist with preparation of reports for coaches, staff, conference, and the NCAA.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Life Skills Development.
Revenue Generation (Alumni & Donor Engagement) Support 20%
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of athletics alumni events, including game-day receptions, reunions, networking events, and special recognition celebrations.
Support alumni engagement initiatives by maintaining alumni databases, preparing event communications, tracking RSVPs, and assisting with follow-up outreach to strengthen relationships with former student-athletes and supporters.
Track outcomes from alumni engagement and new donor acquisition
Other duties as assigned
Academic Services Support – 15%
Provide academic advisement, mentoring, and support for assigned freshmen and at-risk student-athletes.
Provide registration assistance to continuing Gonzaga student-athletes each semester during the registration process.
Assist student-athletes in academic planning and major/career exploration.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This internship is a fully immersive experience replicating a full-time position in the field of Life Skills Development. In addition to regular office hours, this field often requires night and weekend hours where applicable to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
A monthly living stipend and graduate school tuition. The applicant may enroll in any graduate program offered by Gonzaga University (School of Law and M.Ed. Counseling excluded) and is subject to the entrance requirements of the university (successful applicant must be admitted into a graduate program at Gonzaga for Fall 2026). Preferred graduate programs are M.A. Organizational Leadership, M.A. Communication & Leadership, M.A. Sport & Athletic Administration and Master of Business Administration.
INTERNSHIP DETAILS:
Applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree prior to the start of the internship.
This is a two-year program starting June 16, 2026 – May 15, 2028 and is renewable for the second year by mutual agreement between both parties.

Interview Process:
Application materials will be accepted through Friday, March 6th, but interviews will begin as soon as Monday, February 23rd.
The multi-round interview process will take place throughout the month of March. These interviews will be a combination of phone and Zoom with various members of our staff.
The successful applicant is expected to be identified by the end of March.
This in-person internship is anticipated to start Monday, June 16, 2026 (start date can have some flexibility but will need to be discussed ahead of time).
