SPOKANE, Washington, Gonzaga Athletics is seeking applicants for a Graduate Intern for Athletic Facilities and Events.
PURPOSE:
The Athletic Facilities and Events Graduate Intern, under the direction of the Director of Athletics for Facility and Event Operations, shall learn game operations and administrative duties to support the NCAA Division I Facility and Event Operations area.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting the department of Athletics for Facility and Event Operations in preparation and execution of Game Operations for Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Volleyball, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Men’s and Women's Basketball;
Duties will include assisting in coordination of all logistics for home events;
supervision of part-time student event staff;
work cohesively with Athletics co-workers and also with outside vendors, and scheduling of all Athletics operated facilities.
The Graduate Intern for Athletic Facilities is also responsible for assisting in the management of the day to day operation of the Gonzaga Athletic Facilities.
Duties will also include assisting the Director of Athletic Facilities and Event Operations with non-athletic events held within the Athletic Facilities.
Other duties will be assigned as needed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This internship is a fully immersive experience replicating a full-time position in the field of Facilities and Event Operations. In addition to regular office hours, this field often requires night and weekend hours where applicable to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
A monthly living stipend and graduate school tuition. The applicant may enroll in any graduate program offered by Gonzaga University (School of Law and M.Ed. Counseling excluded) and is subject to the entrance requirements of the university (successful applicant must be admitted into a graduate program at Gonzaga for Fall 2026). Preferred graduate programs are M.A. Organizational Leadership, M.A. Communication & Leadership, M.A. Sport & Athletic Administration and Master of Business Administration.
The Athletic Facilities & Events Internship is a 2-year program and renewable for the second year by mutual agreement between the Associate Director of Athletics – Facility & Event Operations and the Athletic Facilities & Events Graduate Intern.
Applicant must have earned a bachelor’s degree prior to the start of the internship.
Professional Advancement
The Athletic Facilities & Events Graduate Intern shall work closely with the Facilities & Event Operations staff to develop skills within the area to prepare the Athletic Facilities & Events Graduate Intern to obtain fulltime employment in the profession upon completion of his/her internship.

Interview Process:
Application materials will be accepted through Friday, February 27th, but interviews will begin as soon as February 24th.
The multi-round interview process will take place throughout the month of March. These interviews will be a combination of phone and Zoom with various members of our staff.
The successful applicant is expected to be identified by the end of March.
This in-person internship is anticipated to start Monday, June 15, 2026 (start date can have some flexibility but will need to be discussed ahead of time).

Bachelor’s degree.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Acceptance into Gonzaga Graduate school of choice.
Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be dependable, meticulous and good at problem solving in high pressure, deadline filled setting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment.
Must be able to provide own, reliable transportation to work or use public transportation to achieve punctuality.
Applicants should have previous event management experience at the collegiate or professional level.
Must have the ability to lift 50lbs.
