About the Opportunity
Join the Cedar Rapids Kernels Grounds Crew and get hands-on experience in professional sports turf management! This is an exciting opportunity to work behind the scenes at Veterans Memorial Stadium, helping maintain one of the best playing surfaces in Minor League Baseball. What You’ll Do
- Help maintain and repair the pitching mound, home plate, bullpens, and infield areas.
- Assist with mowing, edging, aerating, and fertilizing to keep the field in top condition.
- Participate in tarp pulls and field covers on both game days and non-game days.
- Support irrigation maintenance, sodding, and turf repair projects.
- Set up and tear down for batting practice and pre-game field prep.
- Assist with field and facility needs for non-baseball events like concerts, high school and college tournaments, and community activities.
What We’re Looking For
- Prior turf or grounds experience is a plus, but we’re happy to train the right candidate.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to take on physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Experience operating utility vehicles and grounds equipment is helpful.
