Reports to: Executive Assistant, Office of the Chairman

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Hourly rate: $18/hour

Position Summary: 

This position will be temporary for the week of January 19, 2026, with the hopes to extend to future projects related to stewardship, donor relations, stakeholder engagement, office operations, and other duties in the summer of 2026.   

This position will primarily assist with sending holiday packages, notifications, and correspondences from the Chairman’s Office to key stakeholders of the Special Olympics movement. The ideal applicant will possess an extensive knowledge of Special Olympics’ mission with a special emphasis on supporting core programming elements associated with Special Olympics advocacy, Special Olympics Global Ambassadors and Global Events.

This position would be a short-term internship opportunity for a current DC-based student. This position would also be an opportunity for individuals seeking to learn more about project management, constitution relations, and executive office management.

Responsibilities:

  • Support sending holiday packages to key stakeholders of the Special Olympics movement
  • Support drafting email communications and written communications to key members of the Special Olympics movement.
  • Organize gifts and office operations for Chairman’s Office holiday outreach
  • Connect with various department leads for information related to Chairman’s Office holiday outreach as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in college courses and pursuing a degree in communications or other related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate with external audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strength in learning new technologies and programs.
  • Strong attention to detail, along with skills in organization, time management and prioritization.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience or background knowledge in Special Olympics and/or a passion for working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • Some knowledge of or interest in disability inclusion, sport development, coaching, and/or non-profits.
