Internship Program Overview:
The San Francisco 49ers offer full-time, paid internships for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in professional sports while exploring careers within the National Football League. Our program is designed to allows participants to contribute directly to the organization’s success while applying the knowledge learned in the classroom.
Interns are embedded within a specific department while also having opportunities to explore the broader organization through group networking events, training sessions, and one-on-one meetings with leaders across the club. Each intern is supported by a mentor and team and contributes to a project that builds skills and professional confidence.

General Internship details and expectations:
- Our interns are paid $19.00 per hour and are expected to work 30-40 hours or more per week during the internship period.
- Interns are expected to commit to the full term of the internship and be mostly onsite (no remote internships are available), which runs from mid-July through the end of February.
- Interns are expected to work flexible hours that include nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Interns to provide their own housing and transportation

- Monday, July 6, 2026 - First day of the internship program
- Friday, February 26, 2027 - Last day of the internship program
The Fan Engagement Intern will help drive brand awareness, engagement, and positive sentiment. This position will help to shape marketing strategy with an emphasis on Fan Engagement through event marketing, event operations, and engagement with avid fans and through our membership clubs.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Proactively learns about the sports marketing industry by seeking information, assisting with basic market research, monitoring industry trends/best practices, and conducting benchmarking for fan engagement efforts.
- Assists with fan engagement marketing and operational support, including marketing for events, event registration, activation planning and support, promotional fulfillment, and in-person/virtual event operational support.
- Assists in coordinating and overseeing the 49ers Gameday/Event Associates during the season.
- Assists in the execution of promotion plans to grow event attendance and develop Fan Engagement programming.
- Assists in scheduling and maintains a monthly calendar of in-person & virtual programming and content.
- Assists with monitoring and engaging with fan communication across Fan Engagement platforms.
- Supports tracking and reporting digital analytics on a daily/weekly basis.
- Assists in developing and updating website/app content for new Fan Engagement programming.
- Assists with post-performance recaps and presentations, takes notes in meetings, sorts and manages files, and organizes documents.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Strong writing skills, including copywriting experience
- Ability to use sound judgment and discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
Education & Experience:
- Relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including 49ers home games and events.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
- Proficient with social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.)
- Promotional Marketing Experience and proficient with website, email marketing, etc.
- Previous event marketing experience
- Customer Service experience is a plus.
- Copywriting Experience a plus

This position requires the ability to work extended hours and/or weekends.
Travel:
25% of local travel time expected for the position.
