Intern, International Marketing

Internship Program Overview:

The San Francisco 49ers offer full-time, paid internships for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in professional sports while exploring careers within the National Football League. Our program is designed to allows participants to contribute directly to the organization’s success while applying the knowledge learned in the classroom.

Interns are embedded within a specific department while also having opportunities to explore the broader organization through group networking events, training sessions, and one-on-one meetings with leaders across the club. Each intern is supported by a mentor and team and contributes to a project that builds skills and professional confidence.

General Internship details and expectations:

• Our interns are paid $19.00 per hour and are expected to work 30-40 hours or more per week during the internship period. 
• Interns are expected to commit to the full term of the internship and be mostly onsite (no remote internships are available), which runs from mid-July through the end of February. 
• Interns are expected to work flexible hours that include nights, holidays, and weekends. 
• Interns to provide their own housing and transportation

Important dates: 

• Monday, January 5, 2026 - Applications close 
• Monday, July 6, 2026 - First day of the internship program
• Friday, February 26, 2027 - Last day of the internship program

The International Marketing Intern will help drive brand awareness, engagement, and positive sentiment in the San Francisco 49ers International markets. This position will help shape marketing strategy with an emphasis on social content, in-market activations and fan engagement efforts for the 2026 season. This intern will assist the 49ers with international work for the Mexico, England, Scotland, and United Arab Emirates markets..

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Proactively learns about sports marketing industry by seeking information, assisting basic market research, and monitoring industry trends/best practices.
• Aids execution and strategic development of fan-facing programming to engage all demographics of fans internationally.
• Assists International marketing campaign activities, including concept/creative development, promotional support, innovative deployment, and in-person/virtual event execution.
•  Collaborates with the International teams to assist and execute plans to grow and develop promotions and programming.
• Helps schedule and manage a monthly calendar of in-person & digital promotions and content.
• Assists in monitoring and engaging communication with fans across platforms.
• Supports tracking and reports digital analytics on a daily/weekly basis.
• Assists in updating and maintaining website/app content for new programming.
• Assists with post-performance recaps and presentations, takes notes in meetings, sorts and manages files, and organizes documents.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Excellent administrative and communication skills; must be an "Admin Rockstar."
• Ability to speak Arabic or Spanish fluently a plus

Education & Experience:

• Relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including 49ers home games.
• Experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word.
• Proficient with social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, etc.)

The employee will be sitting in a typical office environment the majority of the time and may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

This position requires the ability to work extended hours and/or weekends.

Travel:

25% of local travel time expected for the position.
