Internship Program Overview:

The San Francisco 49ers offer full-time, paid internships for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in professional sports while exploring careers within the National Football League. Our program is designed to allows participants to contribute directly to the organization’s success while applying the knowledge learned in the classroom.

Interns are embedded within a specific department while also having opportunities to explore the broader organization through group networking events, training sessions, and one-on-one meetings with leaders across the club. Each intern is supported by a mentor and team and contributes to a project that builds skills and professional confidence.

General Internship details and expectations:

  • Our interns are paid $19.00 per hour and are expected to work 30-40 hours or more per week during the internship period. 
  • Interns are expected to commit to the full term of the internship and be mostly onsite (no remote internships are available), which runs from mid-July through the end of February. 
  • Interns are expected to work flexible hours that include nights, holidays, and weekends. 
  • Interns to provide their own housing and transportation

Important dates: 

  • Monday, January 5, 2026 - Applications close 
  • Monday, July 6, 2026 - First day of the internship program
  • Friday, February 26, 2027 - Last day of the internship program

To provide a hard-working, dedicated candidate with an internship opportunity to experience the work environment of the Game Presentation & Live Events team during a full season. As a Live Events Creative Intern, you will support our in-house live production team in crafting best-in-class videos and graphics for 49ers game days at Levi’s Stadium. Upon completion of the internship, it is our hope that the knowledge gained is one that provides great value and experience that will support future career endeavors in the live sports production industry.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assists with producing and editing video board content for the in-stadium show on 49ers game days, including, but not limited to, hype videos, partnership features, LED ribbon board content, plazas, and gates content. 
  • Assists in delivery, ingest, conversion, and display/distribution of all graphics/content as required for games, including LED ribbon board content.   
  • Works within our internal servers, Iconik, and Evertz DreamCatcher to log and manage game footage. 
  • Assists with Load Days during game week, working closely with the Coordinator, Game & Live Event Production to ensure all content is loaded in the control room.  
  • Assists as a camera operator on 49ers game days, capturing footage of the game and entertainment elements. 
  • Assists in gathering assets from internal departments who activate at 49ers home games and team Marketing events/shows, i.e., Partnerships, Community Relations, Fan Engagement, PREP, EDU, Foundation, and Retail. 
  • Assists with researching and tracking football storylines, which includes but is not limited to, situational football partner obligations, games going on around the League, team/player milestones, records, player notes, stats, and bios.
  • Contributes ideas and supports creative brainstorming alongside senior leaders for live event content.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Breakdown of Responsibilities:

  • 80% - Content Creation
    • Video edits (Premiere, Media Encoder) – 50%
    • Graphics (After Effects, Photoshop) – 30%
  • 10% - Control Room Content Load In 
    • Clips Players, Ross Tessera, Edit Bays 
  • 10% - Camera Operator on Game Days 
    • Must be available to work all 49ers home games

Abilities & Skills:

  • Have working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, including: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder. 
  • Proficient in using apps within the Google Suite including: Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Sheets. 
  • Demonstrate prior experience working with Sony cameras.  Experience with the Sony FX3 or FX6 is a plus. 
  • Must possess the ability to work and collaborate at a fast pace with staff across various departments within the San Francisco 49ers front office. 
  • Must be able to work with strict deadlines. 
  • Bring a creative mind to openly collaborate on content and projects throughout the season. 
  • Communicate effectively during each stage of the creative process. 
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess top-notch organizational skills. 
  • Possess a strong understanding of marketing and brand standards.
  • Keep current on editing trends, pop culture, new music, and sports headlines. 
  • Have a general knowledge of the San Francisco 49ers history and current roster. 
  • Know the difference between mono and stereo audio. 
  • Be able to apply various post-production treatments to video content as needed. 
  • Must possess a general understanding of production workflows, video codecs, and aspect ratios. 

Education and Experience:

  • Relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in sports production or other fast-paced production experience is a plus.
  • Applicants must provide a reel or portfolio of relevant work as part of their application.
  • Final-round candidates will be asked to complete a practical editing exercise as part of the interview process.
