Internship: Business Performance

Help transform data into meaningful insights that support decision making across the NCAA. Business Performance interns work alongside analytics professionals to explore data, develop reports and dashboards, and partner with departments across the national office to solve business challenges. Whether analyzing trends, building visualizations or communicating findings, you’ll gain hands on experience using data to improve business performance throughout collegiate athletics.

This internship is ideal for recent graduates pursuing careers in business analytics, data analytics, finance, engineering, computer science, statistics or related fields. Successful candidates are curious, analytical and collaborative problem solvers who enjoy working with data, uncovering insights and helping organizations make informed decisions. If you’re interested in applying technical skills to real world business challenges within collegiate athletics, this internship provides an excellent foundation.

Eligibility

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a four-year NCAA member institution by the internship start date.

No prior experience as an NCAA national office intern or employee.

Legally authorized to work in the United States (international students may apply through Optional Practical Training for F-1 students).

No age restriction or sports-specific degree required.

Prior athletics department experience and former student-athlete status are not required.

Not a current or former NCAA national office intern or employee.

Desired knowledge, skills and abilities:

Intermediate SQL skills with the ability to write and optimize queries for analysis

Strong Excel skills for data exploration, analysis, and reporting

Experience working with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or similar) to support insights and storytelling

Foundational knowledge of data analysis concepts, including basic statistics

Exposure to Python or other analytical tools is a plus

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business questions into analytical approaches

Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams

Professional business acumen and attention to detail

Essential duties:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business questions and translate them into analytical solutions

Write and maintain SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources

Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights

Support project-based analytics work, contributing to end-to-end delivery from data gathering to results communication

Develop and maintain reports and dashboards to monitor key business metrics

Communicate findings clearly through presentations, summaries, and data storytelling

Assist in improving data quality, reporting processes, and analytics workflows

Partner with team members to continuously enhance analytics capabilities and best practices
