General position summary: This intern works with the Association-wide governance and member services team to effectively and strategically support the NCAA’s governance and policy operations. The intern will work with national office staff and the membership to contribute to national-level initiatives, maintain internal governance systems, and assist with strategic projects that span all three NCAA divisions. The intern will gain valuable experience observing key committees, supporting campus leader engagement, and working cross-functionally with staff throughout the national office.
Responsibilities
Governance Operations
- Support NCAA Board of Governors initiatives and governance meetings.
- Maintain committee rosters and leadership records.
- Assist with governance communications and correspondence.
Student-Athlete Leadership
- Support cross divisional student-athlete initiatives.
- Assist the Division I Student-Athlete Advocacy Team.
- Coordinate governance participation across divisions.
Strategic Projects
- Conduct research and resource development.
- Support the Presidents and Chancellors Program.
- Review materials for quality and accuracy.
Essential duties:
- Assist with meeting preparation, communication and tracking related to the NCAA Board of Governors and its initiatives.
- Contribute to maintaining high-level governance communications, including Board of Governors’ correspondence.
- Assist with meeting preparation, communication and tracking related to the NCAA Cross-Divisional Group of Student-Athlete Advocacy/Advisory Members and its initiatives.
- Support the efforts of the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Advocacy Team.
- Maintain and update Association-wide and divisional committee rosters and leadership records in the NCAA’s internal systems.
- Provide education and clear communication to the membership regarding student athlete participation and service across all Division I committees.
- Support the planning and execution of the NCAA Presidents and Chancellors Program, including in-person and virtual sessions.
- Attend and take notes in Association-wide and other governance committee meetings to support cross-divisional coordination.
- Assist with research, analysis or resource development projects based on emerging priorities or strategic needs.
- Provide quality assurance by reviewing materials to ensure materials are error-free.
