General position summary: The intern in this position is responsible for assisting the assigned Division I governance and member services staff in supporting the division’s decision-making bodies (with emphasis on Division I presidential bodies and the national Division I Student Athlete Advocacy Committee). The intern will work with national office staff and the membership to contribute to national-level initiatives, maintain internal governance systems, and assist with strategic projects. The intern will gain valuable experience observing key committees, supporting campus leader engagement, and working cross-functionally with staff throughout the national office.
Responsibilities
Governance Operations
- Assist with preparing meeting materials, presentations, reports and key takeaways for Division I governance committees.
- Support Division I governance committees and observe the governance process firsthand.
- Help maintain the Division I membership tracker and support governance systems.
Student-Athlete Advocacy
- Support the Division I Student-Athlete Advocacy Committee and related subcommittees.
- Assist Division I Student-Athlete Advocacy Team initiatives and membership engagement efforts.
- Collaborate with staff to advance student-athlete focused initiatives across Division I.
Membership Communications
- Assist with Salesforce communications and governance updates.
- Manage the division’s monthly communications to the Compliance Commissioners Association and Compliance Administrators.
- Develop educational resources for NCAA staff and Division I member schools.
- Facilitate and present Division I governance topics to membership groups.
Essential duties:
- Assist with preparation of meeting materials, PowerPoints, key takeaways and reports.
- Assist the Division I Student-Athlete Advocacy Committee, student-athlete subcommittees and staff liaisons.
- Assist Student-Athlete Advocacy Team initiatives as necessary.
- Assist other Division I governance committees, as assigned based on intern interests.
- Assist with managing the Division I membership tracker.
- Assist with Salesforce communications.
- Assist with developing educational resources for use by national office staff and institutional personnel.
- Facilitate and present on Division I topics to various membership groups.
- Manage the division’s monthly email to the Compliance Commissioners Association and the Collegiate Commissioners Association Compliance Administrators.
