About the position: The Fan Engagement & Marketing Intern will help create fun, engaging experiences for fans both online and at our events. This position is a mix of social media, digital marketing, content creation, fan engagement, and live event entertainment.

The ideal candidate is someone who loves social media, enjoys creating content, is comfortable talking to people, and brings a high-energy personality to everything they do. This intern will have the opportunity to work behind the scenes creating marketing campaigns and content, while also getting hands-on experience interacting with fans and helping bring events to life.
From creating an Instagram Reel or email campaign to jumping on the microphone, running a fan contest, or helping hype up a crowd, this position gives you the opportunity to experience all sides of event marketing and fan engagement.

Description of Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on event position. The intern should be comfortable traveling to 8–10 festivals throughout the Midwest and working weekends, long event days, early mornings, and late nights as needed, with all travel, lodging, and event expenses fully paid by the company.
  • Develop and implement social media and digital marketing strategies that align with the overall marketing and business goals of Outlier Events, LLC
  • Coordinate event marketing across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
  • Create engaging photo, video, graphic, and written content for social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Help plan and execute email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and other fan communications
  • Provide photo, video, and social media coverage of festivals and events
  • Assist with creating and running fan contests, giveaways, games, and other interactive promotions
  • Interact directly with attendees during events and help create a fun, energetic atmosphere
  • Help host events, engage with crowds, and participate in on-site entertainment and promotions
  • Monitor attendee feedback and engagement to identify ways to improve the fan experience at current and future events
  • Track social media and marketing performance and use insights to help improve future content and campaigns
  • Assist with updating signage, brochures, design elements, and other marketing materials for each festival

  • Interest in social media, marketing, events, sports, entertainment, or fan engagement
  • Experience creating content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or other social platforms
  • Comfortable being on camera and/or speaking in front of a crowd
  • Strong creative and strategic thinking
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
  • Excellent attitude and willingness to learn
  • Personable, energetic, and coachable
  • Comfortable working with fans, vendors, sponsors, performers, and event staff
  • Willingness to jump in and help wherever needed
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing platforms, or website management is a plus
Other Tasks & Activities May Include
  • Assisting with festival setup and teardown, including loading, unloading, transporting, and organizing event equipment and supplies
  • Setting up tents, tables, chairs, signage, barricades, décor, and other event elements
  • Assisting with moving equipment, supplies, and materials throughout the event site
  • Assisting with vendor load-in, setup, and breakdown
  • Assisting with event operations and troubleshooting throughout the day
  • Assisting with concessions, guest services, or other event areas as needed
  • Helping with event inventory, supplies, and equipment organization
  • Working Kalamazoo Growlers baseball games and other events as needed or desired
Start Date: On or near the start of February 1st
End Date: On or near the end of the last event (August 31)
*Open to remote work before the summer, in-person May-August. 
Compensation: Monthly Stipend, Festival Day Meals, Uniform, other Fringe Benefits 
Housing: Housing is not provided, intern is responsible for coordinating summer arrangements. 
Credit: College credit towards a major, minor or general elective available
