Sports ETA is the trade association for the sports events and tourism industry, connecting event owners, rights holders, destinations, and industry partners to drive the growth and development of sports tourism. Position Summary
Sports ETA is seeking a Membership & Community Impact Intern to support fundraising initiatives, member engagement, community impact programs, event planning, and association operations. This internship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, association management, event planning, communications, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to initiatives that support both the Sports Legacy Fund and the continued growth of the sports tourism industry.

The Membership & Community Impact Intern reports to the Membership & Engagement Team under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership & Engagement and collaborates with staff across multiple departments on projects related to fundraising campaigns, auction management, donor stewardship, and program promotion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with donor outreach, solicitation tracking, and follow-up communications.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, including donor communications, auction item procurement, and event preparation.
  • Maintain project trackers, databases, and reporting documents to support ongoing initiatives.
  • Assist with beneficiary outreach, application management, and storytelling efforts.
  • Support marketing and promotional efforts, including email, web, and social media content.
  • Assist with website updates and digital content management.
  • Support event planning and logistics related to Sports ETA fundraising initiatives.
  • Help prepare post-event reports, donor acknowledgements, and program documentation.
  • Assist with member engagement initiatives, resource development, and community outreach efforts.

Interns may have opportunities to collaborate across departments and support additional Sports ETA initiatives as organizational priorities evolve. Other duties may be assigned to provide a well-rounded learning experience.

Internship Details

  • Expected commitment of 5–10 hours per week.
  • Internship term follows the academic semester calendar.
    • Fall Term: September-December with flexibility on exact dates
    • Spring Term: January-April with flexibility on exact dates
  • Primarily remote, with occasional in-person meetings or events as determined by the supervisor.
  • Opportunities for travel may include travel to Sports ETA events, including the 2027 Sports ETA Symposium in Salt Lake City, April 12–15, 2027 (spring term). Approved travel expenses will be covered by Sports ETA.
  • Interns are responsible for providing their own computer, internet access, and workspace.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who reside in the Polk County, Florida area for the fall internship and the Salt Lake City, Utah area for the spring internship to support in-person event opportunities.
