Overview:
The Partnership Sales Fellow is a one-year Fellowship that is responsible for assisting in driving revenue to new Pittsburgh Penguins and FSM corporate partnerships with regional, national, and international companies.  This role will work alongside the Penguins Partnership Sales and Solutions teams to learn the basics of partnership sales while actively contributing to and working with sales leads and new business conversations.  This role affords recent college graduates and young professionals who are interested in pursuing a career in sports partnerships hands-on experience in the corporate marketplace.

In addition to the duties described above, the Partnership Sales Fellow will also participate in the Penguins’ exclusive Leadership Development Program. This program will provide regular opportunities for professional development, exposure to organizational leadership, and the ability to develop skills critical for the Fellow’s future career growth. A fundamental part of the program will include clearly defined goals between the Fellow and their Supervisor that will be tracked and measured for progress throughout the term of the program.

Responsibilities:
  • Prospecting and developing new business opportunities. 
  • Researching and developing category strategies. 
  • Assisting with the preparation of brand briefs, presentations, proposals, and RFP responses. 
  • Thinking creatively and analytically as to why brands would invest in a partnership.
  • Acting as a key liaison between sellers and the sales support team, facilitating collaboration with partnership solutions, data & insights, creative services, and strategy & operations.
  • Creating weekly status reports and client updates in a structured and formal format as provided and directed by FSM via Salesforce (and FSM sales team management).
  • Participate in events, promotions, client entertainment and other activities as required
  • Work and attend required events at PPG Paints Arena, UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex, and other FSM venues
  • Build internal relationships
  • Properly represent the Penguins and FSM brand throughout the community and sports industry
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Knowledge of the sports business industry is a plus.
  • Strong desire to pursue a career in sports sponsorships, with an interest in sales. 
  • Role is based in Pittsburgh, working in the office four days/week, with one day work-from-home.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings.
