Internship Overview
The Program Operations & Scholar-Mentor Intern serves in a dual role supporting both program operations and direct youth engagement within PYB’s Early Years Summer Learning Program (grades K–5).
This role provides hands-on experience in education-based youth development, program logistics, and classroom facilitation. The intern will support daily operations while serving as a mentor and facilitator, helping create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment for young participants.
Key Responsibilities
Program Operations & Logistics
- Maintain accurate daily attendance and program records
- Coordinate meal distribution with food service staff
- Manage supplies and conduct routine inventory checks
- Support logistics for off-site activities (e.g., park outings)
- Communicate regularly with LULU coordinators to support daily operations
Youth Mentorship & Instruction
- Lead reading, math, and enrichment activities using structured and engaging approaches
- Facilitate games, group projects, and activities that support social-emotional development
- Serve as a positive role model, reinforcing PYB’s core values
- Support classroom management and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college or university (Education, Sports Management, Social Work, Communications, or related field preferred)
- Experience working with youth (e.g., camps, after-school programs, coaching) preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
- Ability to engage positively with youth, staff, and partners
- Ability to commit to the full summer program
