About The Tournament
The Tournament has grown from a unique idea amongst friends to hosting some of the hottest sporting events in the world, owning and operating The Basketball Tournament (TBT) and The Soccer Tournament (TST). TBT launched in 2014 and is now one of the most exciting events on the summer sports calendar, with a Fox Sports partnership, regional championships across the country, and a winner-take-all, $1 million prize. Every year, its open format attracts some of the best players in the world and fulfills its promise of showcasing electrifying competition. In 2023, The Tournament unveiled TST, which exploded onto the scene with a $1 million prize, billing itself as

Internship DescriptionWe are seeking a talented Public Relations intern to join our team and contribute to the storytelling that defines TST. As an intern, you will work collaboratively with various internal departments and external partners to promote the event and assist in media relations. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Be present on-site at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC for the entirety of TST and media days in May 25 – June 1
- Create press releases and feature pitches to promote TST in the local market
- Maintain and update local and national media lists
- Assist the public relations team to facilitate media days
- Ensure all starting lineups are reported and final scores are updated correctly
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., social media, event operations) and external partners to conceptualize and execute creative ideas.
- Assist in gameday media operations
- Maintain media credential lists and assist with media check-in during the event
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have an interest in sports, and who exhibits the following traits:
- Pursuing a degree in Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field
- Has experience working with a collegiate or professional sports organizations
- Is proficient in AP style and has a background in writing
- Has strong communication and problem solving skills
- Maintains professionalism when working with athletes/celebrities
Schedule & Time Commitment
The internship period is February 23, 2025 – June 4, 2026. Interns are expected to be available up to 10 hours per week, but the time commitment will vary and likely increase toward the end of the internship period. Must be available to work on-site late May/early June at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC.
This internship is a hybrid of remote work and in-person opportunities. All applicants must be local to the Raleigh/Durham area .
School Credit
This is an unpaid internship; however, we are committed to providing an educational environment throughout this experience. If your school offers internship credit, we are happy to work with you to ensure that credit requirements are met.
