Job Description
The Sports Information Department at St. Ambrose University Athletics is seeking a Graduate Assistant to assist with the day-to-day operations of the department and help promote the Fighting Bees’ 31 varsity athletic programs. The Graduate Assistant will play an active role in event coverage, content creation, media relations, and digital communications while gaining hands-on experience in collegiate athletics communications and sports information.
Responsibilities include taking statistics at home athletic events, writing game recaps and feature stories, creating social media content, assisting with live stream productions, maintaining the athletics website, designing game programs, and supporting other department initiatives. The position also includes supervising student workers and assisting with game-day operations. Evening, weekend, and occasional travel commitments are required.
Responsibilities
Assist with daily operations of the Sports Information Office
Take and report statistics at home athletic events using programs such as StatCrew and DakStats
Write game recaps, feature stories, press releases, and other athletics content
Create and publish content for athletics social media platforms
Assist with maintaining and updating the SAU Athletics website
Help oversee live streaming and broadcast operations for athletic events
Design and produce game programs and promotional materials
Handle media requests and assist with public relations efforts
Supervise and assist in training student workers and game-day staff
Provide support for additional administrative and game-day duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree completed prior to the start date
Current or prospective enrollment in a graduate program at St. Ambrose University
Current SAU graduate students must provide proof of registration
Prospective students must be officially applied to an SAU graduate program prior to the fall semester, with eventual acceptance required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
Strong leadership and supervisory skills
Proficiency with computer software and digital platforms
Experience with social media content creation preferred
Knowledge of athletics statistics software, website management, graphic design, or livestreaming platforms is preferred
Availability to work nights, weekends, and occasional travel assignments associated with athletic events
