Sports Medicine Internship – Orange County Soccer Club
Orange County Soccer Club is seeking motivated undergraduate or graduate students to join our Sports Medicine Internship Program. This position is ideal for individuals pursuing or planning to pursue degrees in Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Sports Science, or Sports Medicine who want hands-on experience in a professional soccer environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Interns will gain experience working alongside the full medical staff, including Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, and Sports Medicine Physicians. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting both the First Team and USL Academy medical operations
- Assisting, under supervision, with athlete care as directed by medical staff
- Assisting in the implementation of treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention techniques
- Maintaining inventory of medical supplies and clinical equipment
- Ensuring the training room and clinic areas remain clean, safe, and organized
- Participating in meetings, activities, and programs as assigned by the medical staff
- Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills when working with players, coaches, and staff
- Complying with OSHA standards and all club policies
- Being available to work evenings, weekends, home matches, and outdoor events as needed
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program related to Kinesiology, biomechanics, athletic training, sports science, or sports medicine.
- Students pursuing a Master of Science in Athletic Training must be enrolled in a CAATE-accredited program
- Must receive academic credit for this internship (unpaid position)
- Must be willing to sign a volunteer agreement with Orange County Soccer Club
- Minimum 8-week commitment
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Punctual, reliable, and able to uphold professional standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure situations
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Work Environment
- This is an on-site, in-person internship at the Great Park in Irvine, CA
- Must reside in California by the start date and provide own transportation
- Exposure to busy athletic facilities, outdoor weather conditions, and loud noise levels
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift 20+ pounds

Orange County Soccer Club competes in the USL Championship, the highest level of professional soccer in Orange County and the largest Division II professional league in the world with 35+ markets.
Games are played at Championship Soccer Stadium, a professional facility opened in 2017 with a capacity of over 5,000. The stadium has hosted USL, MLS, Liga MX, and J-League exhibitions.
