GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

This position is responsible for assisting with the organization, development, and administration of all functions related to coaching sports performance for all competitive Division II athletic programs. Fundamental duties include, but are not limited to, development and implementation of strength and conditioning and speed and agility for varsity teams, commitment to the well-being and success of student-athletes, student-athlete development, assisting camps, and overall operations of two varsity weight room facilities. This position collaborates with intercollegiate athletics staff members, sports medicine, other performance staff, compliance staff, and institutional partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in the implementation of strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes

Instruct and demonstrate proper technique in all aspects of strength training, speed, agility, and conditioning

Assist with daily facility operations, including equipment setup and breakdown

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment

Assist with performance tracking, data collection, and evaluation

Collaborate with sports medicine and sport coaching staff

Support preseason and in-season training schedules

Perform other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Those associated with coaching sports performance for competitive collegiate teams, including active participation in training as necessary during early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

General office conditions. General athletic event environments that occur indoors and outdoors. QUALIFICATIONS

  Relevant sports performance experience, preferably at the collegiate level. Proven ability to teach sport-specific training skills and develop successful sports performance programs. Strong communication skills (written and oral), a high level of organization, and attention to detail are required.

Must be accepted into graduate school at FHSU and maintain eligibility. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in a related field. Relevant, successful sports performance experience is required. 

CPR/AED Certified 

Strength and Conditioning Certification 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

Previous experience in collegiate strength and conditioning 

Pursuit of CSCS (NSCA) or SCCC (CSCCa) certification 

Experience working in high-performance environments
