The SAAS Fellowship program, previously branded as a post-graduate internship, won the prestigious N4A 2020 Model Practice Award. SAAS Academic Fellows will gain experience in the following areas:

Professional Development: Engage in regular professional development opportunities, including training sessions, workshops, and special assignments, to build skills essential for a career in student-athlete academic support.

NCAA Eligibility & Compliance: Gain a successful understanding of NCAA rules and regulations regarding academic eligibility requirements.

Academic Support and Advising: Provide personalized academic advising to a caseload of student-athletes. Assist with course selection and academic planning to ensure timely progress toward graduation. Track student-athlete academic performance through meetings and monitoring Canvas observer role.

Communication: Build and sustain professional, respectful relationships with students, staff, and university stakeholders. Communicate effectively with the use of professional language, ensuring confidentiality and upholding ethical standards.

Collaboration: Provide support for a multitude of other projects and responsibilities that are housed within SAAS. Examples include textbook distribution, Bridge Orientation, Guest Coaches program, and graduation breakfast.

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree.
  • Previous graduate assistantship or internship in a student-athlete support center.
  • Relevant experience working in a collegiate athletic academic advising office.
  • Desire to enter the professional field of athletic academic services.

40 hours per week. Benefits Eligible Position.
