Mission
Hartford Athletic is committed to building a winning club on and off the field, uniting the Greater Hartford community through soccer and creating pathways for players, fans and young people to grow and succeed.
Overview
Hartford Athletic is seeking motivated students to join the club's USL Women’s team as Women’s team Operations Interns. This is an unpaid, part-time seasonal internship running from mid-April through June 30, 2027, open to students at any college or university. The Women’s team is the nation's premier pre-professional women's soccer league, giving elite collegiate and post-collegiate players a high-level summer competition platform.
Operations Interns rotate through the same areas as the full operations team, supporting administration, training, soccer operations, matchday operations and player and staff merchandise, on a reduced schedule designed to fit around classes, finals and other commitments. The internship is built around learning: each intern is paired with a staff supervisor and given defined learning goals for the season.
Schedule
•          Two (2) to three (3) shifts per week of up to four (4) hours each (approximately 8 to 12 hours per week).
•          Plus, a minimum of seven (7) home games during the season.
•          Shifts are scheduled around each student's academic calendar.
•          Internship period: mid-April through June 30, 2027. Unpaid.
Responsibilities
Administration
•          Assist with organizing files, schedules, rosters and contact lists for the Women’s team.
•          Help prepare onboarding packets and track completed player and staff forms.
•          Take notes at staff meetings and help prepare routine materials.
Training & Soccer Operations
•          Help set up and break down training sessions, including field equipment, water and ice.
•          Assist with kit distribution, laundry and equipment returns.
•          Shadow soccer operations staff on travel planning and visiting team logistics.
Gameday Operations
•          Support home match setup, signage, fan entry and post-match breakdown.
•          Assist with giveaway distribution, halftime activities and youth club group nights.
•          Help at community events and youth clinics, including tabling and sign-ups.
•          Capture photos and video at matches and events for the marketing team.

Merchandise (Players & Staff)
•          Help collect player and staff sizing and prepare apparel order lists.
•          Assist with receiving, labeling and distributing team apparel and merchandise to players and staff.
•          Help track apparel sign-outs and returns.
Desired Qualifications
•          Currently enrolled at a college or university; all majors are welcome.
•          Reliable, organized and eager to learn.
•          Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
•          Interest in women's soccer, women's sports or sports business; a soccer playing or coaching background is a plus.
Requirements
•          Must be available for the internship period, mid-April through June 30, 2027.
•          Must be available for two (2) to three (3) shifts per week plus a minimum of seven (7) home games, including evenings and weekends.
•          Must have reliable transportation to the stadium, training sites and event locations.
•          Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Learning Opportunities
•          Exposure to every side of a pre-professional women's soccer operation: front office, training, matchday and team apparel.
•          A dedicated staff supervisor defined learning goals for the season and a mid-season and end-of-season check-in.
•          Real-world experience in event management and matchday execution.
•          Mentorship from Hartford Athletic staff and the opportunity to build professional relationships within the USL.
•          A strong resume line and references for future roles in sports.
This internship is open to all students who want real-world experience in professional sports. Academic credit is available, and Hartford Athletic will work with each student's college or university to meet its internship requirements. Operations Interns who perform well may be considered for future paid opportunities with the club.
