Since 1984, San Antonio Sports has put San Antonio on the global stage by hosting premier sporting events and
championships while transforming our community through the power of sport.
San Antonio Sports and the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee (SALOC) will host the 2026 NCAA Division I
Women’s Volleyball Championship at the Alamodome, December 17 & 20, 2026. This post-graduate internship
provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the planning, promotion and execution of a major
NCAA national championship.
The Post-Graduate Intern will serve as an integral member of the championship team, working directly with San
Antonio Sports staff, SALOC committee chairs and volunteers, NCAA representatives, community partners and
other stakeholders. The position will have a particular focus on group ticket sales, grassroots marketing,
community engagement, championship promotional events, and SALOC committee support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist San Antonio Sports and SALOC with the overall planning and execution of the 2026 NCAA Division I
Women’s Volleyball Championship.
• Coordinate the group ticket sales program, including outreach to youth volleyball clubs, school teams,
collegiate programs, community organizations, corporate groups and other prospective ticket buyers.
• Develop and maintain group sales prospect lists and track outreach, follow-up and ticket sales activity.
• Build relationships with local volleyball clubs, coaches, schools and community organizations to increase
awareness and drive championship attendance.
• Assist with the development and execution of grassroots marketing initiatives throughout San Antonio
and the surrounding region.
• Coordinate distribution of promotional materials and identify opportunities to promote the championship
at community events, volleyball tournaments, schools, clubs and partner locations.
• Coordinate the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship Trophy Tour, including identifying appearance
opportunities, scheduling appearances, coordinating logistics and working with host locations and
community partners.
• Coordinate championship promotional appearances and community activations involving the trophy,
mascot, signage and other championship assets.
• Maintain the championship community outreach and promotional calendar and ensure appropriate
staffing, materials and logistics are in place for each appearance.
• Provide direct support to SALOC Committee Chairs and committee members, including scheduling
meetings, preparing agendas and materials, tracking action items and assisting with committee
communications and follow-up.
• Maintain committee rosters, planning documents, timelines and other championship-related materials.
• Assist with volunteer recruitment, communication and coordination as needed.
• Support championship marketing, communications, special events, hospitality and community
engagement initiatives.
• Provide on-site operations support for championship-related events, promotional appearances and
Championship Week activities.
• Assist with administrative functions, database management, research and reporting as needed.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree required. Preferred areas of study include Sports Management, Business, Marketing,
Communications, Hospitality, Event Management or a related field.
• Previous internship, volunteer or work experience in sports, events, marketing, ticket sales or customer
service preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and confidence communicating with community partners, coaches, volunteers,
committee members and prospective ticket buyers.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
simultaneously.
• Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of projects and work independently.
• Comfortable making outbound calls, conducting email outreach and building relationships with
prospective groups and community organizations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel to the San Antonio Sports office, community appearances,
meetings and event locations.
• Must be available to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, leading up to and during
Championship Week.
• Must have the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate is an energetic, highly organized and self-motivated recent graduate who wants to build a
career in sports and event management. This is a hands-on position that will provide meaningful responsibility and
direct exposure to the planning and execution of an NCAA national championship.
The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between sales, marketing, community engagement and event
operations and will enjoy building relationships throughout the San Antonio community. They should be willing to
take initiative, solve problems, communicate professionally with a wide range of stakeholders and contribute
wherever needed to help deliver an exceptional championship experience.
This position offers the opportunity to gain experience in NCAA championship management, ticket sales,
grassroots marketing, community engagement, committee management, volunteer coordination, event
operations and stakeholder relations.
SCHEDULE & PAY:
• Position: Post-Graduate Intern/Contractor
• Compensation: 1099 Contract - $3,000 per month; no benefits
• Time Requirement: Full Time
• Length of Internship: September 2026 – January 2027
• Extended hours, evenings and weekends will be required as the championship approaches.
• Full availability will be required during Championship Week, December 14–20, 2026.
