Midland University, a private Christian liberal arts university in Fremont, Nebraska, just outside the Omaha metro area, is accepting applications for the position of Graduate Assistant – Athletic Communications Specialist.
This position is part of Midland University’s graduate assistant structure and requires admission into one of the following programs: Master of Education, Master of Science Learning and Talent Development, Master of Science and Sports Administration and Leadership, or Master of Business Administration programs.
The selected candidate will assist with writing game/event recaps, producing press releases, compiling statistics, creating athletic publications, maintaining records, and supporting other athletic communications responsibilities. The position includes tuition remission, with the possibility of a monthly stipend and an on-campus meal plan, depending on the degree program pursued.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Representing Midland University and its athletic department professionally
· Writing, editing, and meeting publication deadlines
· Graphic design and content creation
· Statistics compilation and record keeping
· Social media management
· Website maintenance
· Photography and video production
· Game-day operations and event management
· Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree required (communications, journalism, sports management, or related field preferred)
· Strong organizational skills
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience working in an athletic communications office
· Experience as a writer, journalist, yearbook editor, or similar role
· Experience with video filming and editing
· Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite programs, including Photoshop and InDesign
· Experience with PrestoStats and/or StatCrew software
