ABOUT US
The Staten Island FerryHawks are dedicated to creating a vibrant, fan-first experience on and off the field. Competing in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, an MLB Partner League, we play our home games at SIUH Community Park on the St. George waterfront, combining competitive professional baseball with year-round community entertainment. Our internship program gives students hands-on, educational experience alongside and under the supervision of the staff who run a professional sports organization, in their chosen area of study.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Clubhouse Operations Intern gains an inside look at how a professional baseball clubhouse and field are run. Working with and under the supervision of the clubhouse manager, the intern learns how equipment, the clubhouse, and the team's daily needs are organized, a behind-the-scenes experience in pro baseball that is hard to find anywhere else.
GAME-DAY COMMITMENT
This internship requires being present at designated home games. Home game dates and times are listed on the current schedule, available as a PDF on the FerryHawks website (ferryhawks.com). Call time is a minimum of 4.5 hours before first pitch and can run longer depending on the game day. Interns must be available for designated home games, including July 4th.

WHAT THE INTERN WILL EXPERIENCE AND LEARN

Under the supervision of the staff member they report to, and as part of their training, the intern will gain hands-on experience with and exposure to the following. Staff lead the work; interns learn by observing and assisting.
  • Learn how field and batting-practice equipment is set up and organized.
  • See how the clubhouse is prepared, stocked, and maintained.
  • Gain exposure to how a professional team's daily operation runs on a home stand.
  • Observe how equipment, uniforms, and gear are managed.
  • Learn how the clubhouse supports players and staff day to day.
  • Experience the behind-the-scenes side of professional baseball.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in sport management or a related field, or with a strong interest in clubhouse and team operations, and able to earn academic credit through their school.
  • Comfortable being on your feet and working flexible hours.
  • Dependable, discreet, and a strong team member around players and staff.
  • Written confirmation of eligibility for credits from current school.

  • Exposure to the day-to-day workings of a pro team.
  • An understanding of equipment and clubhouse management.
  • Networking with players, coaches, and operations staff.

COMPENSATION & ACADEMIC CREDIT

This is an unpaid internship, offered for academic credit only, in conjunction with the student's school and in accordance with that school's requirements for earning credit. It is an educational training experience, not employment. The intern is not an employee for minimum wage or overtime purposes, is not guaranteed a job at the end of the internship, is free to pursue other opportunities in the field, and receives no employee benefits. The student arranges credit through their college or university, and the FerryHawks coordinate with the school and provide the documentation and supervisor sign-off the school requires.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
