The Quincy University Athletic Communications Office is seeking a creative and motivated Graduate Assistant to assist with social media, graphic design, photography, and communications efforts for Quincy University Athletics.
This position is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in athletic communications, content creation, and social media strategy while working in a fast-paced Division II athletics environment.
What You Can Expect
Play a key role in creating content for Quincy University Athletics across web, social media, video boards, and digital signage
Design and post content for Quincy Athletics social media accounts across multiple platforms
Create graphics for game days, schedules, scores, awards, milestones, recruiting, and special events
Assist with video editing, highlight packages, hype videos, and short-form social media content
Capture photo and video content at practices, games, and special events
Serve as the primary communications contact for select sports, including writing recaps, feature stories, and press releases
Assist with live event coverage, statistics, streaming, and game day operations as needed
Help manage and mentor undergraduate student workers within the athletic communications office
Contribute creative ideas to elevate Quincy University Athletics’ social media presence and brand identity
Contract Information
Appointment Term: 12-month graduate assistantship with the possibility of renewal for one additional year, pending mutual agreement
Tuition Waiver: Covers up to 15 credit hours (MBA) or 16 credit hours (MSE/MEC) per academic year; additional credits are the responsibility of the student
Stipend: $6,000 per academic year, paid in two installments ($3,000 per semester)
Additional Costs: Graduate assistants are responsible for program fees, textbooks, and any repeated courses
Housing & Meals: Not included in the compensation package
Academic Requirements: Must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours
Key Areas of Focus
The ideal candidate will have a strong creative background and a passion for producing engaging social media content. Graphic design, photography, video editing, and the ability to create visually appealing content for student-athletes and teams will be a major emphasis within this role. Required Qualifications
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign, or similar programs
Experience in graphic design, video editing, and social media content creation
Experience shooting live sports photography and video
Strong understanding of social media trends and how to create engaging athletics content
Strong writing and communication skills, including the ability to write on deadline
Ability to manage multiple projects and sports simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and travel as needed
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in college athletics, sports information, athletic communications, or a related field
Familiarity with Sidearm, NCAA Live Stats, StatCrew, Boxout, Photoshop templates, or similar athletics software
Knowledge of photography editing software such as Lightroom
Experience with livestreaming, video production, or broadcast equipment
Understanding of branding and content strategy for athletic departments
