Position Title: Intern – Athletic Development & Performance
Organization: Little Rock Rangers (USL League Two / WPSL)
Location: Little Rock, AR
Compensation: Unpaid Internship (College Credit Available)
Position Description
The Athletic Development & Performance Intern will assist the club’s performance and coaching staff in supporting player development through physical preparation, injury prevention, and recovery strategies. This internship provides hands-on experience in strength and conditioning, athletic performance analysis, and applied sports science within a semi-professional soccer environment. This role is ideal for a motivated college student pursuing a career in exercise science, strength & conditioning, or sports performance. The intern will gain practical experience assisting with daily training operations, performance technology, and recovery protocols.
Primary Responsibilities
• Assist the Athletic Development and Performance staff with daily training objectives.
• Support on-field and gym-based training sessions for academy and first-team players.
• Collect, analyze, and distribute data from performance technologies as directed by staff.
• Assist with injury prevention exercises and activities.
• Help with set up and break down of on-field and gym equipment.
• Support regenerative/recovery strategies, including cooldowns and recovery protocols.
• Assist in implementing nutritional guidance under the direction of the Sports Dietitian.
• Perform other tasks as needed to support daily training operations.
Qualifications
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and eligible for college credit.
• Field of study: Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, Kinesiology, Biomechanics, Human
Performance, or a related field.
• Knowledge and interest in soccer.
• Technologically proficient, including Microsoft Excel and other performance tools.
• Strong communication skills, willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic.
• Preferred: prior knowledge in exercise physiology and/or sports nutrition disciplines.
• Currently certified or working toward CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist).
• Available 20–25 hours per week, primarily mornings/early afternoons and weekends.
