The Anti-Racism in Sport Campaign (“ARISC”) is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Marketing & Communications Intern/Analyst to support the organization’s communications, digital engagement, brand development, and public awareness initiatives. The intern will contribute to strategic campaign planning, social media content development, website updates, newsletter creation, and the promotion of ARISC’s documentary, training programs, and national events.

This role is ideal for a student interested in anti-racism, social impact communications, sport equity, digital marketing, or public policy advocacy.

 Responsibilities

  • Digital Marketing & Communications
    • Develop, schedule, and monitor content across ARISC’s social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok/X as applicable).
    • Support the implementation of ARISC’s national marketing and communication strategy.
    • Design engaging visuals, infographics, and graphics for campaigns, events, and public education messaging using Canva or Adobe Suite.
    • Assist in producing promotional materials for the national documentary Sidelined: The Colour of the Game, training sessions, workshops, and public events.
    • Track and report on digital analytics, reach, and engagement to support data-driven decision making.
  • Website & Content Management
    • Prepare, upload, and maintain website content, including accessibility improvements, event postings, reports, and resource pages.
    • Assist with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and ensuring content aligns with ARISC’s brand and anti-racism messaging guidelines.
  • Public Awareness & Campaign Support
    • Support the development of national anti-racism in sport campaigns, including copywriting, storyboarding, and research.
    • Contribute to communications elements of ARISC’s PSO/NSO support program, youth advisory council initiatives, and accessibility and inclusion work.
    • Assist in creating materials for media relations, partner outreach, and stakeholder communications.
  • Research & Analysis
    • Conduct background research on best practices in anti-racism communications, sport equity initiatives, and digital engagement.
    • Compile insights from campaign analytics, audience behaviour, survey responses, and community engagement.
    • Support preparation of evaluation materials and post-campaign reports.
  • Event & Administrative Support
    • Assist with virtual and in-person event promotion, registration management, and communications logistics.
    • Draft internal and external communication materials such as newsletters, briefings, email campaigns, and outreach messages.
    • Provide general project coordination and administrative support as required.

Qualification and Skill Requirements

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in communications, marketing, digital media, journalism, graphic design, public relations, sport management, sociology, or related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Canva; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is an asset.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, analytics tools, and digital engagement strategies.
  • Demonstrated interest in anti-racism, equity, sport, or community development.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working with diverse or marginalized communities.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., AODA).
  • Understanding of sport systems in Canada (PSOs/NSOs, recreation sector).
  • Experience in video editing, basic photography, or storytelling.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) or additional languages.
