Overview:
The Recreation & Social Events Intern – Summer plays a key role in delivering family programming, social recreation events, and guest‑focused entertainment throughout the resort. This includes hosting daily poolside activities, weekly Dive‑In Movies, s’mores socials, family game nights, and seasonal holiday events.
In addition to leading family programming, the intern oversees craft bar operations, camp activities, pool and beach welcome desks, and group recreation events.
A structured rotation through all ten recreation divisions (Health & Fitness, Tennis, Herons Cove Mini Golf, Amelia’s Wheels, Nature Center, Camp Amelia, Pool Operations, Beach Recreation, Craft Hut, and Group Recreation Sales) provides broad exposure to resort‑wide recreation operations.
This is a seasonal internship running May–August 2027.

Responsibilities:
  • Family Programming Leadership- Host and support poolside entertainment, Dive‑In Movies, s’mores socials, family game nights, and other signature recreation events.
  • Craft & Camp Operations- Oversee opening/closing procedures, take reservations, and assist with daily craft offerings and themed camp activities.
  • Guest Engagement- Interact warmly with guests, manage crowds, and create memorable vacation moments with creativity and enthusiasm.
  • Event Execution- Implement group recreation events including scavenger hunts, beach fires, team‑building activities, and organized games.
  • Holiday Programming- Support and host seasonal and holiday events with a welcoming, festive presence.
  • Pool & Beach Welcome Desks- Provide rental services, guest assistance, and elevated service at pool and beach welcome stations.
  • Daily Area Inspections- Inspect recreation spaces for cleanliness, organization, and safety; report hazards and ensure follow‑up.
  • Team Leadership- Supervise craft attendants and camp counselors; act as a coach, mentor, and positive role model.
  • Scheduling Support- Assist with weekly staffing schedules and operational planning.
  • Supervisor on Duty- Serve as Recreation’s Supervisor on Duty when scheduled.
  • Training & Meetings- Help prepare and present monthly team meetings and trainings.
  • Programming Development- Participate in research and brainstorming for new recreation programs.
  • Division Rotations- Gain hands‑on experience across all ten recreation divisions.
  • Evening & Group Events- Assist with or supervise evening events, fires, team‑building programs, and holiday specials.
Qualifications:
  • Guest Service Experience- Previous experience in a guest‑facing or hospitality role.
  • Professional Communication- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible Scheduling- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on business demands.
  • Team Collaboration- Comfortable working in a supportive, team‑oriented environment.
  • Calm Under Pressure- Ability to stay focused and composed during high‑volume periods.
  • Language Skills- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Stand, walk, and move for 8+ hours
  • Lift and carry items sometimes exceeding 50 lbs Push/pull carts up to 100 lbs
  • Bend, stoop, squat, and stretch as needed
  • Adaptability- Ability to pivot quickly between tasks and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
